Indeed impressive, even though the 10.8 was with drag radials. NHRA certified at 11.2 with production tires.

Whoooah!

I think I'd rather have a Kawasaki ZX14 or Hyabusa and run low
nines out of the crate and still have $80,000 or so left
over.....but I'm definitely not saying that it isn't an
impressive machine .....for a car.

Interesting thought just came to mind though: Kawasaki and
Suzuki came to a truce on the Horsepower war they had years
ago - Capped at 175 HP I think. I wonder if that will ever
happen in the car world? I hope not!

Wasnt the truce on top speed. with electronic limiting at 300kph? How quickly you get there is still up for grabs.  I'm not 100% sure on this.

I see the ZR-1 finally has some competition.  We'll see how the production cars run.  A full aluminum 427 ZL1 Camaro from 1969 would run 10's, with slicks, headers and other race tuning. I saw a 1969 ZL1 Camaro run a high 11 before being hidden in the trailer as the gates to the strip opened. Modern technology is amazing.  These newer blown cars will go substantially quicker, but are toned down for durability/warranty concerns.

Nice to see that Dodge has stepped up and joined the party.  Hopefully these cars arent as portly.

I just saw US pricing leaked, starting at 60K for the Hellcat. 15-20k from what was the expectations.

Will be interesting to see what Canadian MSRP is, then what dealers will do with the numbers.

I love it    but for 60-80 grand   I could have a used late model Camaro SS and Mustang GT and a Challenger with 5.9 Hemi

For engine geeks like me. :)

This is a cool engine. It's all oldschool, but with some very sweet technical touches as well. I think the fuel pump
is a nice touch.  I wonder if they are changing the fuel pressure at idle/low RPM to allow for a more optimal duty cycle on those giant injectors.. hmm.

Feeding the beast

More fuel was needed to feed the supercharger, so larger fuel injectors rated at 600 cc/min are utilized. SRT also developed a variable fuel pressure system with a pulse-width-modulated in-tank fuel pump.

“One of the challenges in injector sizing is that you need good linear control at low speed for idle quality, yet also deliver enough fuel to make power,” says Black.

Not for the faint of heart     would the brakes be the same as the  ZL1 Camaro ?    7-8000 to replace caliper and rotors
