Went down to PA thursday morn for the weekend nostagia races at beaver springs, pulled the thrillium with ROD [rotten old dodge] great trip with no hiccups,,
So first find a campsite OK Shadygrove works about a 1000 miles from civilisation think hill country
Still haveing a hard time figuring out how to add text to pix but overall the best racing ever, all old school lots of early mopars chevs and mid 60's ford, love 64 falcons, gassers ,,altered,,
I love 'full metal jacket' the stude but my favourite car is '38 special'. That truck is owned by the nicest couple and it charges hard consistently. Was the Tijuana Taxi and the English brothers there? Those guys put on a show. Who won the wheel standing event?
We were there all day sat. and left 11am sunday ,some bad weather was blowing in, lots of wheel stands but no competition, we camped right beside the creek and watch the staging lanes and walk about 30 feet to the lights,,a few more pix got lots of videos but i dont think i can get them on here.
Don't want to steal this thread but another great old drag strip right in the heart of gasser country is Thompson Dragway in Ohio. The Gasser Nationals will be held there on Friday and Saturday Sept. 5-6. For those who haven't been there, this is a great strip with on site camping and full pit access. Entry is cheap and the entertainment never stops from mid morning till after sunset. For those especially in southern Ontario, this is an easy drive through either Buffalo or Detroit. Maybe we will see some of you there.
