Raising the roof...... on my neighbours bus :-0
Permalink

So my neighbour has decided to raise the roof a foot on his camo bus.

Big job and not sure how its gonna work out. Could be a chit show, or be great confuseBut opportunity to learn/practice  and he is just crazy enough to pull it off so I'm in. lol

We removed all the windows yesterday and did the cutting today. We had previously cut/welded up all the  steel to add and managed to get them all tacked in.

You may remember a thread a while ago about him disassembling a 28ft trailer  in front of my house and he grabbed a lot of windows ect from it so any windows going back in will be from that.

Here are a few pics if anyone's into it. most times were choppin/channeling and its rare were raising something so its a whole different kinda crazybiggrin

Of course, he wants the whole thing  painted the same again when its donehmm Damn! thats gonna suck! lol

Last pic is of my neighbour Tom aka neighb to me.... but most call him Phil as in duck dynasty. lol

Ok, what for? It seems like most folks would be able to stand straight up in that beast as is. Transporting 7 foot tall basketball players? Raising the floor for storage compartment under? - like a Greyhound?

You guessed it on the tall thing. He is tall and 2 of his boys are just under 7ft tall.

He gets tired of ducking if he's not walking right down the center of it I guess.

An awful lot of work but he wants it done so what the hell.......... Nothin to lose at my end. Just learn and add it to the list of crazy things we've done.smile

Oh, that splains it! I agree, what the hell - I get the feeling there is a party at each days end too!

I once cut a Grand Marquis into a "Grand Marchero"....just for the hell of it. Do you think I can find the pictures? I know they're somewhere!

No pic,s of the front? Did you give it the bowl trim around the door and windshield or chainsaw it straight across behind the door. You could make one of them fancy airfoils with some birch bark , tie it on  with a bit of spruce root and slap a little pine gum to seal it up and make it legal. Gazoo has a set of louvers that would look badass on that thing.

Hard to poke the barrel of your rifle out a port hole without being noticed, beside you would have to be a really sad pirate to live in the river. Dam beavers would chew your leg off.

Holy ****! Why did y'all cut through the widows to raise it? Seems like a ton of extra work.
A cut over the top of the window openings and a straight section of steel welded in would've saved you a ton of work.
But hey! If you're all having a good time, and that's what he wants.

lol.

Not sure about that Ed, but I would imagine once all those boyz go "hunting" and have enough "holiday away from wife beverages" it will be a multitude of color.

I'm worried they wont be able to find it if they wonder away from campwink

I'm just wondering..... do you have to start adding reds, oranges and yellows as the season progresses?

I kept telling him if he wanted it to blend in and not be seen we should have painted it white to blend with the snow we get for 8 months of the year up here.

There are some very subtle shades of red and orange foliage throughout the back of the bus....... but if I have to paint that thing  a 3rd time I'll be seeing red

And instead of using my recently acquired hand grenade for a shifter knob in my car........ I'll pull the pin and throw it in the bus...... problem solved. biggrin I'm over it. lol

Glad its done. Learned a lot raising it but trying to forget about having to paint it....... again.

No moose meat/roast for me Sherwood. My neighbour will be leaving on Wed to go into the bush/hunt camp for a month.

Its a holiday for everyone.wink

He is pushing 70 and the 2 of us can still outwork most of his "uninspired"  kids over there. no

He's always steppin up to help me so its all good in my neighbourhood.
