I used to watch Maverick and Rockford Files faithfully and if they are on TV I still watch them. I will miss him . Great actor and one of the truly great actors of the past who are fading out and will be hard pressed to replace .
Oh darn. He was always one of my favourites. I always waited for his classic "Rockford reverse" when he was trying to get away from the bad guys. Funny though, there was no mention of his racing interests in the article. Sad day.
GREAT ACTOR !!! --- I particularly liked him in GRAND PRIX -- Frankly , I just plain liked Grand Prix -- Great personality , R.I.P. JAMES --- LATER -- DON / fleet 51
he genuinely made everything he did special and I've always thought that was because he always brought his own personality to the characters he was portraying but still managed to make the characters individually believable and loveable
Also loved him in Nichols as the pacifist sheriff, but Grand Prix was the one I really liked. Our car club got to see the preview of the movie and I was entirely blown away by the in car shots. He was such a natural. RIP Jim.
