Heres the 72 Avanti II pics [after having to get new computer for this satellite network] one of 105 built that yr by Altman, A/C cruise, pwr.strg. brks. windows,Ant. Etc. New crate engine with about 1000 mi. on it now. weighs in at 3100 Lb. done 4 shows so far & gets a lot of attention & lots of questions. Rides really nice & goes like stink too!!!
Those Avantis are certainly unique! Keep an eye on that rear window though - I saw one blow out on the highway one year on the Power Tour back in '98. This was at over 120 MPH with the side windows down. It was bright yellow, Pro Street and very high quality.

I had a '63 Avanti. The body was a mess. Door gaps were bad, cracks showed up, etc. the newer ones were put together much better.
Do they still have the headlight switches overhead?
The chrome bumper looks good too.
I still have the stainless steel static? covers for the plug wires and a round headlight glass.
The rear windows only popped out of the first few built. They were recalled and fixed.
Andy Granatelli set 29 speed records with an Avanti.

120 MPH with the window down? Not a good idea in any car. Headliners are especially susceptible to being sucked down at speeds with the window down.
Very nice car. I always loved the distinct look of the Avanti since the first ones I saw . No mistaking it for anything else that's for sure.
Enjoy it.
Ok I to change the wheels, wouldn't be me, with stock wheels !!!! Found these on line + 3hr. drive ea. way to get them, New rubber on them to "boot" Pete
I agree, those wheels are a big improvement and the Magnum 500 ralleys look good too. I think the square head light covers you have suit the car better than the earlier round ones shown in the drag pic above.

Jarvis, yes they still have the H/L switch, dash light s/w & heater blower s/w in overhead console above the mirror. I changed the wiring on it from a series set up[ that made the bulbs so dim even on full pwr.] to normal [parallel] & now can see "what's what" at night up there!!! heater controls are like a airplane with 5 levers just ahead of shifter. Car was [& is] way ahead of it's time in design, everywhere I go with it people crowd around it & lots think it's a Italian car, imported into Cda. Having fun with it, but it sure likes it's fuel, not geared for hwy. driving, 70 mph. & it's twisting up to 3600 rpm's & at 50 It's turning 2400 Thinking it's got 3:73's out back!!!!
