I have a metal band saw but it is a pain to get to in my tiny shop. So I decided to build a variation of a unit I built 30 years ago.
It works good for sheet metal up to 1/8"(maybe more)
I have yet to finish the "gas pedal" spring linkage for the power switch.
I has a 4x7" table, you have to hold the work down firmly and feed gently but makes perfect straight cuts.
The pole is mounted to a 12"x12" base I stand on to keep it from falling over.
Fords Rule ! If it ain't designed and manufactured in North America it sucks ! I don't do rice, pasta, fish and chips, sauerkraut, Ikea or other third world motor vehicle !
Thanks.
I have a Harbour Freight metal band saw I bought in 1988, it replaced the noisy messy cut-off saw I used for rollcages. It is quiet and makes clean cuts but seems to lose teeth easy when cutting sheet metal. So the Harbour freight $ 9.99 recip-saw works good.
There is a piece of corrugated cardboard at the base of the blade to redirect cutting out of the saw.
