I am looking for an Olds rear end from an early 50's Olds for a vintage altered build.  If you have this or something that might work as a replacement, please let me know.  Suspension is not a worry, as it will be welded solid.  It will be driven by a Chev 6.

I am not sure but isn t the 49- 53 U. S. Pontiac with the straight 8 engine the same as the Olds rear end ? I used one out of a 51 Pontiac , open driveshaft, in my 53 Chev when I had a 265 Chevvy in it and it came with 411 gears stock. I beat it pretty good and it never let me down.

Don: If you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate it. thanks

Larry: I think you are right, I haven't been able to locate a 50s GM unit anywhere. If anybody knows, please let me know.

Thanks

There are a few local places in this area that I have delt with for parts for my 51 Chev. If you want I can look them up and see if they have a website. If not I can get you the phone number. If they were in the falls I would go and check them out but they are out of town and about a half to 3/4 hour drive away. I always drive with my eyes open for something interesting hidden behind a garage or barn or out in a field. maybe something will present itself.

Still Haven't found one here but I was talking to Owen's yard in Texas and they have several.  We will be heading down there in January and I can throw one in the Motor home if necessary.  They are turning free and very little rust in that climate.   In the mean time, if any one comes across one, I'd love to hear about it, either US Pontiac or Olds.

Thanks

Warren

I haven't found anything yet but I did go to Sauble Beach by # 6 Hwy last week. There is a wreckers at Varney that's loaded with old classics. they were closed when I went by but maybe someone in the area could give a phone number. Theres also another wreckers further up the road , Nunhs I believe.
