My son Ben wants to race his Camaro before the end of September on a Friday night "grudge Night" as they used to call it. Probably Cayuga but if more people were interested in Sparta we would go there.
Just thought we would throw this out there in case more people would be interested in going as a get together. We were spectators this year and I believe the cost was $5.00 to watch and $20.00 to race all night 7pm to 11pm.
We haven't picked a date as of yet because we thought we would wait for some feed back first but his plates expire Sept 27TH. Not too many Fridays left.
I would take my trailer as a tow vechicle just in case.
I'm in for Sparta - just got the big block Ranchero out and looking to get a 12.something 1/4 mile out of it! I'll talk to the ELTA lads and see if there's any interest.

If I can have it on the road by then yes. I am always there. (at Sparta)

Not this Friday. But a Friday in September. We are waiting on a couple guys to respond and then set a date. Fordy mentioned about asking the ELTA guys if they were interested. Now that would be a fun night. But that all being said it looks like there is more interest in going to Sparta than to Cayuga.

I might be able to make it out if it is after Sept. 12'th. Keep in mind that Friday Sept. 5'th at St Thomas will likely be a very congested with the Hot Rod Reunion event that weekend. Might limit how many passes you get in that night.

Run as much as you want all day long for $20. Everything from Model As to jet cars. No waiting for classes , no breakouts or buy backs, just run what you brung. Decent food, "Facilities", paved pits. A not for profit event run by a whole volunteer crew. The events at Picton have brought the fun back in racing for me I had forgotten was there. If you want to run a car and learn how this is a good place. And if you are an old fart who wants to keep the flame alive this is also the place. Action is non stop from 11am to 5 pm. Hundreds of cars get to run. No prizes so there are non of the normal hassles. A very unusual event you wont forget that will go down in the books as a very special deal. These are the events that folks in the future will be lying about being there even though they are too proud to attend now.

12 seconds in the 8th mile is pretty good, for a big old truck/car
It has already run 13.20 @ 107.65 in the quarter, if it runs 12s in the eighth, we've got some serious issues!!! I have since then addressed a top end gearing issue with a 3.91:1 in place of the 4.30:1 that was in it, and also stepped up to a 29" tire from the 26 1/4" that was on it when it ran 107.....over reving!!! These changes should keep me well below 6500 RPM for sure.
