&@#$ ^& (+&^% .... piston ...$#@!(*&^() ring .. ^% *&^(#$@&  compressor . broke on the first , ya that's right .. the first piston getting put back into my engine .... S O B .....Man an I even went to church last sunday an threw a 20 in the plate when it came around .... Oh Well...... Rant Off ..    ..77.

I love using the tapered ring compressors. So easy compared to the others.

Eventually they all wear out. Especially the clamp type. Usually because the crimp that keeps them from going in the hole get flattened or worn off. Cheap ones are often a waste of time. The tapered are ok if you only need one say 4.030". The clamp type Snap On with changeable clamps are nice but are too expensive. Really, a real good professional quality one which means NMIC(not made in China) will be good for 30 or so V8 builds. Mac Tools or Snap On would be my choice. You KNOW it will work for sure.

Upon further thinkin an investigatin . It was all ready broke when I put it on the piston . I loaned it to a buddy 2 summers ago . Likely it came back broken . I bought a Lisle one today , after here an kijiji I,ll try it out Thanks for the kind words an tips ..77.
