This summer in particular has any one else noticed , or is it just me .
now lets not forget the 50 is what I call an old rag of a truck . its safe an all but , but dents , some rust way too loud , painted back in the 70,s . looks like a 70,s hot rod , dated style .
your trying to squeeze into the next lane , signal on , etc , and the re is car running along right beside you . big grins like they never seen an old car / truck before , you slow down they do , you speed up , they speed up . Next thing you know you gotta get to the next intersection , and get turned around an back track to get to where you originally wanted to turn off .
people have axeually walked up to me an were upset that I used my truck to make a yard waste dump run
I parked in a fast food coffee shop lot on the empty side of the lot , at least 12 empty spots , parked with one back tire over the yellow line , went in got two medium coffee,s with fixin,s on the side .
came out an there is some dude parked behind the chebby looking all p issed off , and quote un quote says . so I guess when you drive some kinda fancy azz truck you think you can park any where
first thing I think is, You call this fancy ???
I just get in an start it up , wait a few seconds , get out walk up to his door . Dude you got plastic bumpers . I,ve got steel ones on a full size truck . you need to move now . I get back in mine , he left . Never seen this guy before in my life .
I don,t know why but in the last 2 - 3 weeks . I,m getting more attention then ever and the 50 is just a beat up old truck ????.
Even at the dump , a dude walks up to me , you shouldn,t be carrying weight in this thing , its too old an can,t handle it
Buddy its got after market front a n rear suspension , power steering an disc brakes . and guy still say well you shouldn,t be using a classic to haul junk and walks off .
man , I have had a very special summer this year ..77.

Trucks are meant to be used...I put checker plate in my 51s bed, so I could haul with it. I used it towing a trailer to move here....Took about 10 trips over a few weeks, but thats what I did. Towed a travel trailer with it too
HI 77 : I enjoyed your tale . It's YOUR truck to drive as you see fit -- I have an unrestored ' 70 GMC and I use it frequently as a hauler . If the load is too " dirty " , then I hook up the trailer -- LATER -- DON / fleet 51
I use my 55 Chev truck for everything-yard work-hauling building materials -hauling the race car etc. Never had a negative comment. I live out in the country-lots of pickups around here-nobody thinks anything of it. I think it depends where you live as to how people think about what you drive.
the 50 was at walmart yesterday to get water an red rain for work , but I parked way away from the crowded part cause its being a pig to tight maneuver lately with lack of power steering . It must just be my town . This town has had full moon fever for the last 3 months . I feel better now ..77.

I brought a pretty good load of wood home in the Ranchero before - I don't think I was the first one to use it this way either!
The bed of my '64 Ranchero was so banged up, I couldn't even imagine the hell it must have endured in it's younger day!!!!
I straightened these wheel tubs as best I could while they were off - many years before I had a plannishing hammer or an English wheel, man they were beat!!!

What do you expect from 90% of the population who drive cars,..they don't even know where their own jack is…. let alone even know how to change a tire.
ha hahah
Drive on!
Not down here in the County, Jeff. There is at least one truck in every driveway except Don's of course, he sold his great V10 Dodge. They call the County 'Little Georgia'. At the cruise last night, I swear half the vehicles there were trucks.

Warren
That could be because there are so few V8 rear wheel drive cars these days.

Did I see you hauling a boat on Highway 118 in Haliburton near Carnarvon yesterday (Saturday the 4th)? If not your truck has a twin.
It drove good...has Nova clip, 350, turbo 350, 3.55 rear...........I towed our 19ft Prowler trailer down east with it about 1996....built it about 20 years ago
