I'm new to this website here and I have recently purchased a a 1952 Chevy 1300 and I can't seem to figure out what engine is in my truck. I have done my research online and I can't seem to fine any matches to the numbers I found. I have the numbers from the block behind the distributer and the number that was casted into the block and I can't seem to find any matches. So the number behind the distributer was c615014. The number that was casted into the block was 3835614. Any imformation on what enginet his is woul be greatly appreciated. I have attached images of the numbers I looked at on the block. According to my research these are the numbers to go by
The engine is probably a 216, somewere along those years trucks started having 235 engines in them. The numbers ? i have no idea. Has it got an oil pump or dippers on the crank?

That I am not sure of I have not looked that close and the engine is still in the truck. next time I am at my shop I will take some pictures of the engine
216's had a small three sided plate , just above the driver's side pan rail , in behind the exhaust pipe , but the easiest way to tell is your oil press guage -- 0 - 30 is a 216 -- 0 - 60 , 235 -- All this assuming it is the original motor . There was one peculiar 235 motor . It was an up-scale version of the 216 , up to 235 , BUT , was still a " Low -Pressure " motor and was only in the 51-52 power-glide cars . All of the low-pressure units were out by 1953 . Hope this helps ( and I think my details are accurate -- getting older doesn't help ) --- LATER -- DON / fleet 51

Thanks for the information. I would look at the oil pressure gauge but someone has robbed them out of the dash before I bought it and unfortunately was to lazy to remove them properly and made a bit of a mess of the dash. I will look for the 3 sided plate on the drivers side next time I go to my shop
Thanks for that information the head number is the same as what you had there. It's amazing what corrosion will do to confuse you because I even felt it to see if it was a 8 but that little bit is missing making me think it was a 6
