The secret to a successful car is pick one or build one that suits you. Work away on it over a series of years. Study to learn for yourself. Don't listen to the over a beer stuff. Try everything you think of. Some will work. Some will not. When it doesn't work change it back and find a new direction. Don't leave it in lame mode. Buy a set of earplugs and use them and not for your engines noise. When you find something that works explore it further till you are convinced that is about it for that. Try to match everything together and remember if it is pretty or anodized or chrome it is probably of suspicious quality or use. You will know you are successful when people say you are cheating, running a stroker or roller cam when you are not and when you are not as welcome round the fire as you once where when you were an idiot.

good post I like to think I use some of the same philosophies , ( sp ) my old faded out dated gremlin drag car has gone 10.80,s in the past . people say oh just put a sbc in it . but nope I,m using my cylinder head guru,s patented 10 point 5 second package , has about 15 4oh1,s out there running from 9.90,s on spray , same weight as my car to 1000 lbs heavier , running 10. 80,s , all basically using the same engine set up package 10.5 to 1 comp ratio , shifting under 6500 rpm
guess who,s advice I,m following .
same with my gasser / hot rod chassis its a show an drag winning chassis from back in the 60,s an 70,s . guys are like OMG you have to box the rails , you have to do this , or you have to do that , you,ll die if you don,t .. Really ??? I don,t have to do any thing , if it could run low 11,s back then . it will do me just fine with 400 horses today and a body of my choice ..77.
