I thought it was a 1967 Ford at 1st glance ... but its a 1966 ... that I wish I had owned back then ...

The 1st car that I drove  regularly was a 1967 Ford Custom 500 (289ci)... and later a boxy 1967 Ford Ranch Wagon (390ci) ... and later still a 1974 Grand Marquis Wagon with all chrome and faux woodgraining (460ci)

It's listed as a "Ford Magic Cruiser"

Seating: six to nine?
The future is now! (1966!) With literally the flick of a switch, you can turn your six-passenger bench seat fastback into a station wagon – complete with third-row rearward-facing seat – in just seven seconds! Legendary customizer George Barris was apparently commissioned to do the handiwork for Ford on this concept-only show car.

Do you think the "mini van" would of caught on as it has, if this George Barris creation had gone into production in 66/67 ??

It may stir up some ideas for the family guy with a 2 door fastback ... smile

That looks like it doesn't match the roof line in my opinion. And if the side windows matched the body contour then maybe. But l it looks like is a hatchback with two pegs holding it up. I like fastbacks. I love wagons and I like George. But I peronally don't like this. It looks unfinished.
I'm sure people's opinions will vary.
I'm looking forward to reading the replies of opinions.

Looks weird and out of proportion to me as well, drop that hatch, pull the back seat and it would look a lot better..I can see why it never caught on..Isin't this where the saying ..just because you can does not mean you should...Not everything Barris did was a work of art...confuse

Ghost I think you are rite what I see is a huge water leak problem in wagon mode and ya something is off kilter with it being a wagon, I wonder what it looks like in fastback mode? I think that would look better. My 5 cents (no pennys anymore) worth.

I agree with all those comments completely ... it does look pretty crude for anything that George Barris would do ... more like a home made pop up on a house trailer using painted sheets of plywood ... disbelief

I was thinking more of a properly done production model, bugs worked out ... with the rear deck lid properly designed and functional ... smile

Even the AMC Pacer did a better job blending in the rear hatch back using a similar angle wink

Strikes me as a cross between a Vista Cruiser and a Volvo P1800. If the line on the roof was blended, it would make a neat sedan delivery.
