HI ROBERT ; Did the trans come from a V-6 or a 4 banger ?? The banger had a reduced diameter input shaft . IF , you had the number from the tag on the front pass side of the top plate that would tell all , or the metal tag hanging from the front of the tail-shaft -- Look for 1352-???? -- LATER -- DON / fleet 51
Hi Don
I bought this trans to go with my 239 flathead in my 1950 f-47 truck ,but I found a really good 3 speed toploader for it instead, I would like to keep it original, I looked on the t-5 and there's a tag with a barcode on it and these numbers 61GC M-U and under that WG 13-52-145 No other tags,Does that mean anything? This is a very low first gear meant for hauling with a small engine. I don't think anyone would be happy with it in a street car. My first T-5 out of a V6 Camaro had a 3.50 first gear and you couldn't go 20 feet without having to shift. Most 4 speeds came with a 2.52 0r 2.20 first and performance T-5s come with a 2.95 first. A World Class gives you better synchro rings and bearings.
