Can anyone recommend a company or person who can do a color change on vinyl seats? I have a Maverick bucket seat interior that I am putting in my Maverick, but I want the color changed.
There are some franchises like Fibrenew & ColorGlo that advertise they do this work, but I would like to hear from someone who has experience in having this done.
The quick answer is ,yes , it can be done as I painted a black dye on the green vinyl seats of my 55 Chevy .........problem is it was over 40 years ago and I can't remember the product . My concern at the time was that the dye would somehow rub off on my (ex) girlfriend's
clothing . It never happened nor did the dye peel or flake . I only kept the car 2 more years before I came to my senses and bought a 68 Mustang , my first new car .
There are a lot of aftermarket products available, for the individual to use, that say they will do the job. I want to have mine done for me by someone that has experience.
I agree, the proper surface preparation is the key. I would be just reading labels and hoping I was doing it right.
Hey Will I use Fibrenew all the time. I have never been disappointed and they have done a lot of work for me over the years. I am in the marine industry and they do my boat seats and interior panels, they also do awesome repairs that you cant tell where they repaired it. My guy is very good and I can only vouch for him. So I cant speak for the other franchises
Before you spray them, scrub the seats with Fantastic cleaner than scrub them with clean water and wipe them down with a clean cloth. Mar-hyde is a good product to use , but the last seats I did I got some waterbase dye from an upholstery shop, I can't think of the name of it right now but I'll call my upholstery guy. The waterbased stuff was nicer to use, it's formulated for airplane use. Apparently there are a lot of regulations on what you can spray on a plane It was just over $100 a quart and it took abound 1 1/2 quarts to do the interior of my 56 Safari wagon
These seats when I got the wagon were green and white , I sprayed them this cream colour

I contacted the Fibrenew rep in London today and he is willing to have a look at what I want. These guys have been around for a long time with a ton of experience.
They have the products and the know how. Thank you Modfather for replying to me with the success you have had with them.

These seats look great. I am sure I could make the attempt, but I don't have the experience or will to learn. There are people for this.
As you know, EVERY job is different, but here is what Shawn did for me. $400. for the two piece rear seat and the two front bucket seats. NOTE - I had the bucket seats disassembled and I SUPER CLEANED ALL PIECES. He did more hand rub cleaning, applied the prep and adhesion promoter and then sprayed the dye - enough coats to complete the color change - 5, I think. He had my parts for a few days in order to make sure everything fully cures. I am very pleased with the job he did and would positively recommend him.
Shawn Kelly can be reached at 519-540-8819 - call or text -- e mail -- colorglogreybruce@me.com -- Facebook -- colorglo grey bruce (check his work)
Colorglo is a franchise program. Their Canadian web site is www.colorglocanada.ca This is NOT about the franchise, BUT ALL ABOUT THE MAN.
Hope this helps Mark. Please be in touch again if I can be of any more help.

Thanks Steve. I was very pleased with both, how they turned out and the price. His price would have been considerably higher if he had to do the initial cleaning.
