enclosed car hauler

I am looking for someone within an hours distance  of me that has an enclosed car hauler I can rent or borrow to haul my Merc to a couple shows in March 2015

I may consider buying one if it is priced right and big enough  at least 20' long, 8.5' wide, and either 6'6 or 8' tall - preference will be to 8', and more than 7000 lb rating - preferably 9-10k

thanks

The drive through "whale wash" is just down the street from Cobo hall

Just picture 20 "Hands Up" people rubbin your rod!

You must have good tires on the pull truck....use that

I have an Interstate 8.5 x 20, nothing fancy but it is V nose, 9800 lb rated, properly built for hauling a car, lots of floor rings, ramp door and side door. They are currently being offered at about 6K. Woodstock trailers for one and a dealer inn the Peterborough area, don't remember the name. Saw an ad on Kijiji offering a hauler for rent in Kitchener at $100/day or $500/wk.

turns out I can not fit in a 6'6 trailer - truck is a 1/2" too tall to get through the door
going down to talk to a guy tonight who custom builds trailers

Just looked at the same hauler as mine for sale at a dealer in Michigan and it was the same price I paid in Woodstock. You can certainly get more expensive units, depending on what options you want and especially if you want to walk on the roof, but I went to see a 6 x 12 locally which I could buy here for $3500 and he showed me an invoice from Georgia for over $4500 for the exact same unit. I think the hauler market is very competitive in Ontario and especially with the dollar exchange and state sales taxes, you can't do near as well as at home.

ok - so if I put a 25" tall tire on the back I get down to 75.25 inches for height - so I can just fit into/through a 6'6" trailer door so it would seem

I will just have to change out tires at each show - pain in the butt, but its better than havin to buy a custom trailer

If you only need to gain a 1/2" ,can't you just let some air out of the tires

Unfortunately, the door on a 6'6" hauler is only 72.5"

There's a place just North of Aylmer, ON., that builds them. Call Canada Trailers.

hmmm - every one that I have inquired about says 76" or 77" as they have a beavertail inside

my slicks are hard sidewalls - no air at all and they are still 31" tall

I've got a 20'open car hauler if that will help you out. Depends on the weather as to how dirty you get going & coming.

Sorry, I see the Miska is 77". As I checked further, it ranges all over the place depending on the builder. Mine is a beavertail and at 71.5"

Something you should do with your trailer if you use it in the winter is undercoat the underside. I also used 160 psi and made sure undercoating went between the ribs and floor. I have a friends 24 foot behind the barn with the frame cracked after the metal thinned out from rust.
