Jeff, do you know if Don lived in Hamilton? I know his name but can't remember from where. Maybe Piston Pushers? I see his daughter is married to a Greenhalgh. Any relation to Jack that built some Studebakers long time ago. Jack was from the Ancaster area. He still works on cars.
Not Sure….. but possible,… he was very familiar with all the Hammer Town Hotrodders.
I believe Don lived on Guelph Line at Hwy 5. I am thinking it was a converted school house. Didn't realize his daughter was married to a Greenhalgh. Could be Bruce who drove Compact's for his dad at Cayuga. Jack not doing so much on cars any more after his stroke last year and he lost his wife a couple of years ago. See Jack every 5 or 6 weeks. Lots of stories from the early years. My dad raced against him at Speedway Park in Hamilton when Jack was building the Avanti motors. Still in the same house.
Great pics Rob. Sure remember a lot of those cars. The 6 digit licence plates look a little out of place now....
Thanks for the pics and memories Rob. I recognize some of the cars. Mitch Sythes has had that green 34 Ford coupe for 40+ yrs. I think he is still in Oakville. Sorry to hear that Don Drywood passed. I knew him from Milton, had some nice 34s. Don was a great guy. By looking at those pics, you can still see a strong 60s dragrace influence in some of the the cars. Glad to see its coming back.
this little yellow 36 International is what I owned in 1972. traded it for a 69 Nova SS big block car. wish I had both of them some days.................
The 40 with the tent trailer is how we traveled in 79...................

God i miss that Waterdown location. That is the first place that i ever brought my car to a car show. I remember walking away from my car after parking it in the row of classic cars and marveling at the fact that my old car was in a car show. That's when Waterdown still had aluminum dash plaques that were printed on. Very cool.

The two tone brown coupe belongs to Hans Boch and repainted aqua now. The red 1940 Ford Deluxe coupe belongs to Bob Carter. Both are members of the Roadrunners Car Club of Hamilton. I believe Kenny Kay did the paint and flames on Bob's car back in the late 70's early 80's.
The 35 Ford panel I believe is Dave Repol's truck from Oshawa. When this was taken Ted Buxton owned it [bought it from Repol] then Dave bought it back, now has chopped top & colour change & lots of up=grades!!!!

The green '37 Chev Sedan Delivery belongs to Ned Karlokoff ?? from Brantford. Has owned that car for a very long time.
Ned sold that a number of years ago. I remember a lot of these cars. Bob Westbrook's orange deuce tudor went states side. A lot of great memories for sure.
Dave,
I remember you from The Brant County Street Rod Association. I had a '57 Chevy 2 door wagon at that time. Known Bob and Ned for many many years. I always liked your '40 2 door sedan.
Thank you DavyJ, I've had a camera in my hand for over 40 years of attending meets and races. They used to sit in albums or boxes but now the internet allows me to share them. Great time to be alive eh?
Great photos Rob of the original waterdown swapmeet. I used to drive a 1955 Blue and white Bel Air 2 door post in those days. I can remember coming along hwy 5 going into waterdown and hitting a seagull. It ended up impaling itself on the bird ornament on my hood. What a blood mess that was. Someone told me that was a sign of good luck but I know it wasn't for the bird.
Didn't Ned have one of those Chev Vickies as well that needed restoring? Thought we went buy his place on Johnson road to look at it many years ago....

Ned still has the car. I gave him a '31 Pontiac frame for it years ago. It would look pretty cool.
