Any of yooz guyz going to this ? I think a bunch went last year and I had to back out because of my wife's illness . I'm planning once again and hopefully things will work out ....just not sure what day . If I remember , the ELTA guys are downstairs etc etc . http://www.mhraonline.org/15detent.html
There are always a car load of us that go on the Friday, cuz it's the only day that it isn't a zoo in there. Usually stop in Windsor for something to eat, and hit the show around noon. Then drag our a$$ out of there at 8-9pm
Think we'll do the basement first this year, cuz we're getting older, and don't know if we can handle the whole thing anymore.

I've gone for one day the last few years, but I think I'm going to stretch it out to Friday AND Saturday this year.
And yes, the basement is the awesome place to be, but the great 8 are really something to see along with the other cars upstairs - it just lacks the vibe the downstairs has. Try to take in as much as you can possibly see though, I mean, you paid your admission - get your money's worth and see it all!
Skip the WWF "Personalities" and "reality" stars' long line ups and you should get to see it all in 8 to 10 hours, depending on your dwell time, drooling over the fine machinery!

Ha ! Personalities , Celebs , Stars ....yeah , in their own mind , these days . ! Bunch of no names as far as I'm concerned . I suppose that idiot Justin Beaver or Bieber is the newest " car guy "

The ELTA boys will be in the basement in force. We will be bringing 12 fresh cars and one mad mini-bike. We will be right there, when you come down the front escalator.
I'll be there, hiding and listening to all the BS. No one knows what I look like except Mark(fast elvis) Warren and Norwell. I'll just walk around snubbin my nose at the gassers. LOL!!
I'm planning on meeting as many people from the site as I can. I'm looking forward to this show. The first time I went we all went down on a chartered bus, there and back in one day! Didn't give you long to look around. The last three years I've gone I stay the night so we have more time to spend at the show.

Ha Ha, I will be passing your mugshot around.

LOL! Hey Sherwood. The place will be packed so hopefully I will see you there, we can lean up against a wall together, or maybe Jeff's car when he's not lookin. HRD
Well that's one of the gassers I'm looking forward to seeing Glenn. I remember talking to you and it wasn't for very long. I'll be looking for you and your car.
Before any of you jump in the car to come down this way to cross into Detroit next week , check first to see if the border is open ( on the news ) ....there is some mumbo-jumbo BS about American Homeland Security regarding cross border traffic .( or not ! )
Geez! don't even think Bieber and Hot Rods at same time. Maybe "beebs" will be at a tuner thing in East L.A. Maybe he can hitch a 'drift' with Nick Bollea.
I will be Cobo-ing Friday. Will stop by for some Top Gas Couch Racing.

Hey! I just found out the Tunnel BBQ closed! We used to head there for dinner after Autorama. Anybody know of a reasonably accessible restaurant to hit after the show? Normally 8-10 of us. Damn! They had excellent ribs and chicken. Even ordered extra to bring home to my lovely wife.
I see a Place called Cramdon's Tap & Eatery on Dougall. Open 'til 2 am menu seems ok. Any input?

Yes the TBQ did an el-foldo after many , many years .......can't think of another place that does ribs and chicken but I'll keep thinking . The border issues haven't gotten worse which is good news . I'm on for Friday morn .

Cramdon's used to be real good - haven't been there in a couple of years though.

Cramdon's is very loud, hard to carry on a conversation but it may be quieter late in the evening. Food is okay, sometimes the place needs a good cleaning. Try www.johnmax.ca/photo-gallery.php. They are right on Dougal avenue close to 401 pub style food, good wings. Not sure of the hours, but go the website if you are interested.

If you want a good old tried and true spot within walking of the Cobo, you can go the the Anchor Bar ( 450 Fort St.) or Cobo Joes.. ( 422 West Congress St)
Both good eats.. The Anchor has a lot of local history , we used to go there Saturday night with all the pinstripers.. Friday night is a must to use the bar in the
Holiday Inn ( Big City Bar and Grill) where everyone seems to gather... lots of fun happens there every year, right Norwell (lol)...

For those on facebook checkout Jeff Norwell's page. You will see pictures of Jeff and Warrens cool Hotrods at the Detroit show. The London boys have posted a couple of their pictures as well. I'm sure pictures will be posted all over soon. I'll be walking through the front doors by 10 this morning. Not sure if I'll go downstairs first or stay up. Its going to be a great show. HRD
I'll start posting the 20 or so that I have .....wish I could have taken more but it was getting very crowded and difficult to get a wide shot without having bodies in the way .

1. Nice to see early Cad and Olds motors in some rods instead of the usual sbc .
2. If this is the "smaller first day crowd " , I can't imagine Sat and Sunday .
3. I wanted to go around again for more pics but the arthritis in my left knee thought differently .
4. Saw the ELTA guys downstairs ....looked like they were having a good time .
5. Was hoping to meet Ragtop ...saw his beautiful little '27 but not him .
6. Very few kids there , mostly old farts , and virtually no black people ...aren't they into cars ??
7. Although I like Fords , I do appreciate the other brands and was enjoying the many Buick Riv's , American Motors AMX's , Mopars , GM's , several GTO's that obviously had a ton of work and money in them ....even a Delahaye or two !
8 The downstairs guys / rat rod enthusiasts and all were really enjoying themselves ...I had several fun conversations .
9. Surprised I didn't see a 55 or 56 Ford Crown Vic ...one of my favourites .
10. Several Chevy motors sporting Ford valve covers ...I wasn't amused

...it's just that in Downtown Motown , you'd expect a diverse audience , shall we say , ....maybe Sat , Sun will be different . Maybe if more people were into cars and rods it would be a better planet ......maybe not !
