The Price of OIL
Permalink

Remember 6 years ago when the economy went for a severe downturn the price of crude oil went down to $53 a barrel. At that time we were paying about $2.25 a liter for a liter for regular motor oil. Over the next few years as the economy picked up the price of a barrel of crude oil peaked at $170 a barrel. Likewise the price of a liter of regular motor oil for our cars gradually worked it's way up to about $4.50 to $5.50 a liter. We all accepted this due to the price of a barrel of crude oil.                             Now it is 2015 and the price of a barrel of crude oil on the world market has been on a severe decline for about the last 6 months. Now it is an all time low of about $45 a barrel or less than 1/3 of its max. Did the price of that liter of oil go down at any of these retailers? No it did not! Infact when I priced oil this week at a number of retailers and they had the balls to add another $1.50 to a liter of regular motor oil. It is almost $7.00/liter now.The price of gasoline went down to mid $.80 because of the decline in the price of oil. Why didn't the price of a liter of oil? If you ask the retailers about their price of the oil they are selling they say they are using up old stock that they bought at high prices. "BS"                                                                      This day and age with "just in time overnight delivery" no retailers keep a 6 month supply of anything let alone cases of oil. It takes up too much storage space. We are getting ripped of at the cash register! Next time you buy oil to do an oil change on your car ask why they want such an inflated price?  Oil should be about $2.00 a liter now.                                                              Lets hear your comm

I'm not sure we are not getting hosed on the price of gasoline either. Something seems out of whack with the price per litre to me.

Good post on the cost of oil.

this is Canada is it not? We have been getting hosed since that dam Trudeau gave us the Metric system. As far as prices, how about groceries. The explanation for rising prices was transportation costs due to the increasing crude prices. Well ,i wonder what their excuse is now. Just went for groceries yesterday and noticed prices on some items increased by a few cents here and there. Gas prices are just ridiculous and will be high because its a major source of income for the government and they sure as hell arent going to do anything to upset the gravy train.

I had to laugh the other day when a barrel of oil went up a few bucks on the market ......INSTANTLY , every station in my area jumped the gas price 10-15 cents/litre or about 50 +cents/gal . What a coincidence .

When the price of a gallon of gas was $4.00 in Murica, it was $1.30+/- a liter here. Now that it's about $1.75 - $1.85/gal it should be about $0.60/liter. How are we doin so far??
