Wow up 10 spots in one race, I didn't expect that after droping the same amount earlier. Going to be fun to watch the couple of guys who still have more than 1 driver still in the running. Ed
Doesn't say much for the sport when you can miss 1/3 of the season and contend for the championship....
Gordon runs strong at Homestead. He led a good part of the race last year. Would be nice to see one of the real drivers finish his career off in style.

Never liked this chase BS much.........Here is how they woulkd stand if not for the chase...

Hopefully Hendrick Motorsports can keep it's winning streak going and make it 4 in a row. Actually any of the Chevy's just NOT a "Rice Rocket"..............
You have to like the Canadian connection of Truex/Furniture Row rookie crew chief Cloe Pearn of London.ON. University of Waterloo engineering graduate and former CASCAR Super Series driver. Single car team as well.
Well, it's going to be tough to beat "Ace",but I did choose the winner and got 4 of the top 5 finishing spots to boot! We'll see how the points play out. Congrats to all three players that stuck it out with Kyle, as rough as it was in the beginning!

Congrats to Ace .....I'm sure you planned it this way !?
I wonder if Nascar will make some , ahem , adjustments next year on their system since they are the only sport in the world whereby a part timer can win a championship . If not , maybe there is hope for my Detroit Lions as they only seem to play part of the season .....could they be Super Bowl bound ?

Couldn't have said it better myself. Congrats to the winner of the pool...
The non chase points grid was listed above. If this is available now after Homestead, perhaps just to see how really good we are at picking winners, the standings could be listed using these. I don't mean to cause too much work but if you have a program that the stats just have to be entered, then this would be fun.
Wuga, I'm on another Nascar pool that doesn't use the crazy Nascar bonus points system ..... seems to work a lot smoother as far as understanding who the best drivers are of the season . Just my opinion .....yes and THANKS Poncho !!

I am not that smart, I dont have a program for this, its done manually. I am not sure if I could get those non chase points week by week. I just happened to come across that one on Jayskis site
Here is some afternoon reading. Back in the early sixties, I was an avid NASCAR fan. I couldn't wait for the next issue of Hot Rod to come out so I could catch up on all the action. I could identify with the cars as the same ones they were selling over at the dealership and I could relate to the drivers because they were probably in the same income level as my parents. Well, something certainly has changed as it has in many sports. It's all about the gate, if your driver doesn't have a chance, why go, so we will level the field, give every driver the same car and create the most inane playoff system in sports. Just to find something interesting about the current state, I started playing with some numbers as some other web sites are doing and this is what I came up with.
The season as it would have ended based on driver and team effort

C'mon , the caution wasn't for a straw wrapper ,....it was a toenail clipping in an effort to help Jeffie get his fairy tale ending , but in the end he was left to complain about McMurray " racing him " ! Duh , Jeffie , this IS called a race .

It was a BS caution and robbed the kid Larson of his first win. He was the only interesting car to watch. Running right up against the wall and passing everyone. Had Keslowski in his sights and was gaining fast enough to have passed him in the final laps. Nascar needs to fix a few things to say the least. Can't just keep the same o'l round and round and round
What do you guys think if we use the non chase points next year?
Should I set up a poll to ask which system we use?......Its all the same to me as long as I can get the non chase points each week. Jayski website has it right now, but am not sure if they update it each week
The points are OK with NASCAR until the chase begins. Jayski only lists the top 25 drivers but anybody out of the chase can be accessed on the NASCAR site without distortion. I'm all for no chase.

I would go for this. The chase points are very confusing. I went from 4th to 14th in a couple of weeks....no continuity of points and very difficult to understand.
so a guy win 5 races and makes enough points to make the chase and win and he s not a champion in less races than everybodyelse ?
but Dale jr win 3 races in 36 and everybody jump lolllllllllllllllll what a driver he even wins a race in the pit lane and yet everybody wowwwwwwwwwwwww
29th in points is enough to make the chase? Apparently so with the new Nascar, just need to win 1 race and you could stay home the rest of the season and save money and wear on your equipment. They got their storybook ending so will be interesting to see what they change for next year.
True enough. If I don't like the way it is done then I don't have to watch it. Have to quit wishing it would go back to the old days..lol NOT going to happen.
I just don't watch it much any more and I can't watch a whole race of anything I tune in to see . I really find more fun and excitement at my local track on Saturday nights .

I go to South Buxton , down here near Chatham . I's about a 1/4 mile dirt track , sort of egg shaped as one turn is tighter than another . It's very laid back but races run on schedule and there is a good variety of classes . For $10 ( seniors ) you can't beat the value .
We were racing there this summer with the Vintage Cars. I drove the tow vehicle to give him a rest and pit on the car. Unfortunately only 4 or 5 cars showed up so not put on a good show. I pitted for Al Harju at 5 or 6 tracks this summer so he let me race his back up car at the All Canadian Championship at Humberstone in Port Colborne at the beginning of Aug. I thought I did OK qualified 18th out of about 40 cars but only made up 2 spots in our feature. They split it into 4 features as no heats. Just to put on a show for the fans. First time in the car and not behind the wheel of a stock car since early 80s but got it back out of my system...lol. Was a lot of fun back then and not a real big expense to run Late Model. Have a nephew who still races at Ohsweken and we get down to Merrittville a few times a summer. It's a good deal for the money.
