Wheel repair near london?

Don't wanna ship my wheels to the place I know in Calgary..

I'm looking for a place that can straighten up the ancient steel wheels on my 1949 dodge, get them back to near new condition.

Near london/KW would be nice, but whatever, I can drive.

I have never heard of straightening a steel wheel (well, other than the pounding out of a bent wheel lip ... I am guilty of that).

I can't help but wonder if it would be cheaper in the long run to just replace the wheel or wheels with better ones, or pop out the centers and weld them to new "hoops".

I worked in a frame shop in the late 60's. We straightened a lot of steel wheels back then. We got a whole $5.00 per wheel !

it was a common practice back in 50s- 60s 70s quite few places did it.as thirty8 said $5.00 which at that time was cheaper than possibly $30 $40 new one.that was a time when you could buy a 50s-60s-70s wheel now 30-40 years later no where to buy one so send it for straightening.I am surprised there are places that still offer that service like most old school way's of service a dying art.

Are these the wheels with the clips riveted on? If so I talked to a guy today said he has some..... He said $10 each

I only talked to him once seems nice enough but I'm sure he has a chesterfield on his front porch.

Anybody in eastern Ontario that does wheel repair? The lug holes are torn up, they need to be welded and indexed.

Thanks

Warren
