I didn't really interpret the other two posts as being insulting.

The way I read it, Jeepster may be saying "keep moving ahead as right now you're learning from your mistakes". I just wanted to point out that the mistakes weren't made by you.

As for Slims comment, I think he may be saying "if you're building it to please others, STOP NOW as you won't be successful as you literally can't please everyone due to the fact that there will ALWAYS be people who disagree with stuff you've done to it so either build it so it makes YOU happy or sell it now and avoid the inevitable comments like those wheels look like crap on that truck, I never would've painted it that colour, why the hell did he put buckets seats in it?, the front wheels sit too far back, the front wheels sit too far forward, it sits too low, it sits too high" etc.  I agree with this view as YOU are the one who needs to like it, what others think of it shouldn't (in my opinion) be a factor in your build.

Again, just how I'm reading things smile

My apologies to you Marten, my comment about ''acquiring a little more experience'' was not sarcastic at all and can very well apply to myself here: I'm new to this site and should shut up and learn more about you guys before saying anything!!

I applause at all the effort you make to build that mid-fifty Ford pick-up and will follow your work with great interest!

Keep going Martin, you can eat an elephant but you need to do it one piece at a time!

I'm by no means an experienced builder by any stretch, I like you have a fascination for building and for the Mid 50's F-100.
Mine is still an ongoing project heading into year 4, possibly 1-2 yrs left, everything I have done started with a simple passion and little to no understanding where to start. If there is anything I can offer please feel free to e-mail me and I would be happy to help.

Also I will say I have asked plenty of questions that had started a spiral of negativity, I still needed to ask the question to try and find answers, I believe that this forum is full of very talented people ready to help.

sometimes the written word does not come across the way we think, ask me how I know! LOL

Thanks guys for the words of encouragement. Hoping to roll the truck outside this afternoon and take a look again at the front end. Hoping that changing the cab mounts will make the front end look different.

Hi Chips and thanks for asking. I forgot, ended up curling yesterday afternoon and that did not leave me enough time to bring the girl out. Stay tuned. Also turn my wife's world upside down on the weekend and that really messed up my timing. Stay tuned if a story is to develop you will hear.smilesmilesmile

I had a chance to take the pick up outside for some sunshine this afternoon.  Took a look at the front wheels now that the cab is mounted correctly.  I think the front end looks good now.  Must have been the way the cab was mounted before that threw things off.  Anyway super excited now, I can move forward.  Next step is to mount the motor (engine) permanently.  Hopefully I can get enough parts to get the motor to fire up.  Thinking I need the rad hoses (would like to go with steel braided lines as I like the look of them with the red and blue fittings), trans. cooler lines (what do I need, 700R4 tranny?)and some way of getting fuel to the carb.  Not sure which way to go as I have both the elec. fuel pump and the high volume mech. pump. Oh and to wire up the starter(what do I need, wire size, etc.).

I also picked up some steel so I can make up a new cross member for the trans. as well as enough steel to finish off the motor mounts.  Now need to go a practice some welding first.

Would like your thoughts on any of these next steps.
