Well it's officially on the road. Went cruising with the lovely bride last night, rides like an old truck but with more power isn't that what its all about.

Cheers

Pete

Looking good! Just in time for cruisin' season too!

It looks like you're doing a good job of filling the cab space....Got leg room?

Thanks very much for the compliments.To answer the questions the smile does say it all and as far as cab space lets just say that I can't afford to get much bigger :)
The leg room is limited but hey who said hotrodding had to be luxurious.
The more km's I do the more the confidence builds. Hoping to do a car show at the end of the month in Michigan and don't plan on trailering it I built it as a driver just might have to take frequent breaks to stretch the legs.
Cheers

Well the first road trip was a success. Put just over 400 miles on it going to a show in Escanaba Michigan. No problems and was pleased with the ride on the highway. Cruised about 60 - 65 mph and got about 15 miles to the u.s. gallon
Any thoughts or input on the gas mileage running a small block 350 with 700r4 tranny and 3.73:1 gears rpms at 60-65 is 2800 to 3000

Pete

That RPM sounds a little high with an overdrive trans. Sure it is going into overdrive and not staying in 3rd? Just came back from our trip and friend's '56 Chev is running a 350/700R4 combination but I think his gearing is about 3:42 and he got around 25 MPG on the trip. Gear ratio will make some difference for sure.

sure your OD is working??

RatioTire HeightSpeed
Auto*AOD*Manual*5 Speed*
2662181525932074
* Auto = D in an AOD
* AOD is calculated at .70 transmission ratio
* manual = 4th in a 5 speed
* 5 speed is calculated at .80 transmission ratio

Thanks for the input guys, I will have my tranny guy check it out. The truck itself is pushing alot of wind with the style it is but I am not sure if that will account for alot.

True but the RPM don't coincide with what an overdrive will do for you. The tach is correct as far as you know?
