I used to work out of town and filled 1.3 x per week. I used the Petro Points card and after 1 yr, a whopping $5 off gas. whopeeee... I now do the Pioneer Gas card. Instant amount goes on card, usually 2-5 cents cheaper (I use Gas Buddy app) and after one year and a few months and not commuting I am at $23, I run Premium in one of my cars, and all my lawnmower and snow blower but reg in other two cars. Premium cash back is higher.
I would rather run out of gas than go to a Petro-Canada.....Years ago, it was advertised as Canada's gas station.....but was always the first to put their prices up.
Shell? you car runs on water? I mean 68 octane varsol?

Pioneer or Shell for me
But then you have to remember. It was a Gov,t. entity and anything the Gov,t gets mixed up in is always FUBAR.
I filled my work truck up with diesel the other day and when I asked for the 3 cent discount the guy asked if I was using a corporate credit card. Said the discount doesn't work with corporate cards. I said it was just a plain old Amex. Five bucks is five bucks. Piss off!
We are being overcharged at the pumps anyway. With the price of crude down to around $60.00 / barrel we should only be paying about .85 / litre at the most. Its all about corporate ripoffs and the Gov,t wanting more money.
When a barrel of oil gets back to $100. the pump price will be over $2.00 the way things are going.
There was a time when we had a true competition at the pumps with several oil companies involved. Now , with basically only 3 major competitors the competition is gone and we are being taken advantage of because of it, something like what is happening at the grocery stores. I am just glad the U S border is only 5 minutes away where gas is still only about 2.65/ gallon.
Petrocan was owned by the government at one time (a crown assets company) now is owned by Suncor, one of the biggest thornes I had in my side as a service provider to all of the large gasoline suppliers that had their own airports in western Canada! Everyone else was great to deal with,Suncor sucked!

So what happened to all the independents that had lower prices that we used to have????????????????
Big oil bought them out so they could control the prices and Gov,t. used to step in if they got too aggressive but the Gov,t. is so tight for money they allow the high prices so they can collect more taxes. I did hear on the news this morning that Gulf is going to return to Canada after a 30 year absence. Hope that will help.
