Hey guys. Well, for those close enough, Fleetwood country cruisein is upon us.
I can't wait. Some of you remember my post from last year, I met a WWII vet. Long story short, the gentleman fought all over europe and helped to liberate holland. His stories matched up
pretty well with my mom's stories of liberation in Holland. It was emotional, I thanked him on behalf of all our family etc. blah blah blah. :)
Well, He said he intended on coming back this year, so, If you see this gentleman with an old restored WWII ford welding truck at the show.
I have no idea if he'll attend, but if he does...
Walk up to him.
Shake his hand.
And thank him.
This saturday is the 71st anniversary of D-Day.
Have fun. :) And no, my 1949 dodge isnt' going to be there. I have had bigger fish to fry.
This Vet lives across the street from a friend ....great guy...fought in Africa in the second world war.....check out that restored army welding truck...the welder is powered by a flathead motor....very cool stuff......and a very cool guy deserving of our respect for his service..
my dad was in holland with the royal canadian artillery for the liberation. he said the dutch folks treated the boys like family and he had happy memories of his time with the people there after the pure hell of the previous 4 years. dad would loved to have gone back for an anniversary celebration but never got the chance and passed away in 1992.

Pretty awesome guy indeed. He let me crawl all over that truck and told me all about it. Love that flathead power in the back. Didn't know he was local. :)
