Racer Rick was spot on with the mice causing rust.
The 283 is locked up tighter than a cornered nun.
Been soaking it down now for weeks with deisil fuel and WD40 still can't even get the distributor out.
Did manage to get a 327 block cheap for plan B.
Still thinking the vintage 301-302 rout.

Also got the corvair box reversed and done.
Fabricating a mount for it now and ordering a stainless pitman arm.
The chrome steering column came in from summit so I just need a few more bits like the borgison joint and pass through on the firewall for that to be finished.
Once I get the steering mocked up and done I just need to do the same with the break pedal and then I can get the bucket off the frame and start the fabrication for the breaker panel, battery box, fuel tank, and finish the rolling chassis for paint.

Haven't posted in a while but the project is coming along.
The 283 soaked for a long time but not freed up so I went with a back up plan, a 327 I got cheap because it had to be rebuilt.
And its at the machine shop almost done, had to 60 over.
Now the 302 screamer dream is gone and the 327 is on the table.
I did pick up a nice set of 461 heads with roller rockers and stud girdles, I cc'd them at 62.
The block deck was over stock at 9.050, from what I have read it was suppose to be 9.025 so we are taking .020 off the deck leaving me at .030 deck.
Compression might be a bit lower than the 10.5 I was shooting for but it should run on regular if I can't find a good gas station.
But now I am thinking a better cam than the old 30-30.
I did a few engine simulations and that 30-30 has no bottom end and doesn't make real power until 7000 RPM.
I still want to go with solids but I want to make more torque and HP lower down in the RPM range than the 30-30.
Any suggestions ??
