Ya I just foundout. Oh well another week to get the delivery ready. A question I am having a hard time getting the locals with old stuff , who used to look forward to these events, interested in going anymore. Too many Mustangs, too long in the lineup, not enough runs etc. I also remember going when you could run every 5min. Some guys are saying they aren't having a long waight in line(the fast cars evidently) but last one I went to (first one this year) it was 45minbetween runs ,so I don't know how they are doing it. Now I read on the Armdrop page that some are buying klunkers to run at this event. Any body else have any thoughts on this or am I just a grumpy old fart living in the past. Maybe there could be split events by car age or something like that. I enjoy the event and enjoy all the work to get ready and very much appreciate all the hard work Glen and his crew put into it but maybe it needs a little tweek. Ed
when i was there in june they seemed to have more staging lanes going. six total if i remember correctly with 2 lanes for those of us with racecars. the only real delay was when a fox body mustang sheared the studs on both rear wheels shutting things down for about 45 minutes.

Again I ask, if we had a two day event, would this work, would you attend and how can it be set up to accommodate all those who want to run? Also, I know it's a little early to know schedules, but hopefully the July event can be arranged not to conflict with other major meets.
I enjoy all the armdrop events and get to as many as possible. Because they are on Saturdays it means I have to close my shop to attend . Not a real problem because I enjoy the day very much . It just seams to be harder to get the guys out. I really have no answers just questions. Warren, I am not sure what you are asking me but if you are asking me about a divided event , maybe by age of car , then yes I would choose the event for the older vehicles. How many would go ,I don't know, does anyone else have these issues, again maybe its just me, will I still go to Armdrop if the event continues as is? Absoutely , I enjoy it too much, the atmosphere , the people and the cars make it a must go . I am only expressing some questions and ideas that I have and by no means am I trying to upset those who work so hard to make this event happen. See you next week. Ed
the scheduling of the events depends on the availability of the airfield. glen and his crew of volunteers do a terrific job and are open to questions and suggestions. after years of resistance i joined facebook in order to be informed by sites such as armdrop, shannonville, st. thomas etc. i view it as a tool now for my drag racing interests instead of a load of crap about people's recipes and grandchildren !!! lol.

The sun is out and looks nice. I have a feeling it will be nice today. For what ever reason the weather channels can never get the rain forecast correct for Picton. We are out in the lake and often the winds take the rain north of us.

The July meet was a question Glen threw at me and so I asked it in as broad a sense as possible so as not to influence answers. I thought the point about other points races was a strong factor so other schedules can be taken into account. If you go to other drag strips, how many runs would you typically get in a day?
No rain here yet. It was a little overcast but now it's about past and the skies are getting brighter. The radar I looked at showed the rain going north and south of us. As far as runs at other tracks, I used to get 5 or 6 but that was the 70s , today I don't know. The one thing I think Picton needs is some bite. Those of us with small engines don't have much HP on the top end so the launch is really needed.
Good question. Since the only racing I do is at the Armdrop events I really have no comparrisons. Other more serious guys would be better able to answer that. Maybe 3 runs in an afternoon is normal ,I don't really know. My only point was for some reason it is getting harder to get the guys interested in going. It used to be the highlight of the summer, something has changed, maybe were older, maybe the cars won't take it , maybe were tired of fixing them after racing and just want to cruise, maybe some just want to watch TV. I have noticed a lot of the older cars we used to race are not there anymore, maybe they too have gone Mustang or some other late model. Like I said maybe its just me and if so I apologize. It is still a great event and obviously needed and very popular with the younger crowd. Ed
It's always great to see you and your son there. You always seem to be having a super time. We just keep encouraging people to attend but maybe the competition from other strips is just too big. May this year was the best attended with over 300 cars registered. It is early enough so as not to interfere with other venues and gives guys a chance to test before the season. Maybe we just need two events in May and late September. One of those could be a two day event.
