My buddy just picked up an 88 Camaro that has a 4 link and coilovers and is coming over tonight to see if we can soften the ride. I don't know what coil/ shock is on the car but if someone can point me in the direction to get any info or has experience setting it up let me know. One fellow at a show told us to loosen the spring but my thinking is the spring holds up the car at the correct ride height so that would change if we lowered the nuts on the bottom of the shock/ spring. good day
well its a trial and error deal with the info and set-up thats there. There should be a manufacture sticker or engraving on them. If there is anything then a quick email to the company will also be a good avenue to get a base line if issues arise.
I ordered coil over system couple years back (front) but the spring rate was a guess for me also but it worked out . If its like most then adjust the locking collars for ride height desired. A drive in the car will let u know quickly if the spring rate is right for the weight of the car. It can be removed , measure height and diameter then order the right spring if a softer or stiffer unit is required.
There are others on this forum that hopefully chime in.

Speedeway has a calculator that works well IF you know the corner weights. Or you can get the car weighed front and rear separately and come a bunch closer than trial and error.
How many ride height adjustments are there on the coil over mounts on the four link? You probably will have to change the springs to change the spring rate, and then reset the rideheight. You can start by softening up the shocks if they are adjustable. If the compression is set really stiff it can make an uncomfortable ride.
some shocks have an adjustment screw (or 2) on the bottom of the shock body (if the body is down and the chrome rod is up-they make inverted shocks for some apps would be the opposite), some have a knob and some econ kits use shocks you must compress the shock and the valving is selected by turning the rod.
This will soften or stiffen the ride.
Alternatively, a softer spring will also work. You can reduce preload on the spring and readjust mounting height to keep the same ride height.
Each method has its reasons and how it affects launch and traction.
If this is for just driving around skip the spring purchase.
