To me there are two types of rare: very low numbers produced and very low numbers surviving. Certain cars, while still desirable, will never be either. The '32 Ford, '67 -'69 Camaro, '67-'68 Mustangs are examples that are desirable but not rare.

Ford made millions of Mavericks, GM made lots of Vegas too, but they were 'throw away' cars, so few remain. Still each version seems to have a bit of a cult following and are desirable to a lower percentage of the "car guy"public. Maybe some of that desirability comes from the fact that "I've got one and you don't" despite the fact that they made so many that were simply used up.

I would consider my Ranchero Squires to be rare with around 2500 built total (all colours and drivetrains included), but how many were lost to attrition/worn out, crashes, cancer, and people who couldn't afford the faux wood and fiberglass trim refinishing during a repaint - lots of them just had the trim removed, holes filled and painted a solid colour. How many are left? I'd guess around 200? ....but who knows.

What's rare ? This ginormous hunk of serloin in my fridge before I eat the hell out of it.

I would have given half to carl, but he's too busy walking the ditches for beer cans to fuel up the truck to get here. (so I heard, prolly a rumour)

To me a rare car would be like a 1966 Biscayne two door no options 427 425 hp. 4 speed. They built only 135 that went to known racers and only 11 examples are known to exist to-day. I had an original 66 Biscayne 396 that I sold to a fellow from Truro NS at the Lindsay swap meet this past spring. But what surprised me was the number of people that would look at the car and tell me of them knowing a friend from the past that had a 427. So either GM info is wrong or some guy had a lot of friends all over the map.

I think that certain cars that stand out people remember. Plus a lot of those cars have had many owners. One 65' chevy impala SS convertable I had, had literally 10 pages of previous owners on its information package.  It was really rough and had obviously been passed around like a doobie at a grateful dead concert.  There had to be at least 40 owners listed for the car.

Imagine how much sales tax money that car generated in it's life.

Enough to buy "lady parts" for that dude?

Don't say the "T" word, they are trying to come up with more of them.

You heard of sin taxes? Now she wants to have a happiness tax, it goes up and up until your unhappy, "we will tax that smile off your face" campaign promise.

When you Google my car model a picture of my car comes up. Try that if you own a Mustang or Camaro.

GM only built 135 of these factory race cars.  There are hundreds if not thousands of 66 427 Chevys but I think with not as much power and probably more weight.

If you Google 1962 Cutlass, my Cutlass appears in images in each of the first four rows and eleven times in total.  I don't think there are anywhere near 11 1962 Cutlasses in Canada.  If you Google my name, Dog Spit appears four times but if you Google Dog Spit, it doesn't come up at all.

This is rare and no doubt the original owner had this car until he passed. His kids had no use for it and needing money for a new electronics gizmo so it was gone. www.ccpauctions.com/lot-details.php
