does anyone know of any companies still in business who still make custom offset wheels?

I've read of a place in states in street rodder called Stockton wheels guess they'll make any offset you want,,, saves narrowing a rear end just for a few inches,,, they have a website www.stocktonwheel.com,,,, hope this helps

turns out Summit offers custom wheels from US Wheel and dirt cheap
mine are on order should be here mid January

I just ordered a set from Summit for my 51 Merc, very nice people to deal with and they had them in stock!! should be here in 2 weeks.
