Just thought some of you might be interested in this short story (especially now during the Christmas season).
A friend of mine was pulled over, the cop smelled alcohol on his breath and demanded he take a roadside breath test. He blew a warning, and immediately lost his licence for 3 days, had his car towed/impounded and had to pay $150 "fee" to get his licence back. He told the cop he had only had one beer .... she did not believe him. The cop took him to the station, made him blow again, sat him in a cell for 20 minutes them had him blow once more ..... at this point she apparently returned and stated (apologetically) that my friend, based on the results of the two breath tests done at the station, actually only had one beer as he had originally stated. Unfortunately, "roadside administrative suspensions" (which is what they call it when a cop takes your licence from you at the side of the road), can not be appealed, taken back, tossed out etc.
He was not technically charged with anything, he was not technically fined anything, yet he lost his licence for three days, had his car towed and impounded (so he's out that money), and was out $150, the cost for licence reinstatement (after the three days is up).
He's a 240 lb male, 5'11" and allegedly had consumed ONE beer (on an empty stomach) and drove approximately 20 minutes after having the beer.
For those "casual" or "social" drinkers out there, just keep in mind that it is apparently possible to blow a warning after one beer (I say "apparently" as I was not present at the time this happened, so I am just taking his word for it).
Take this story for what it is, just an unsubstantiated rumour .... but it could be true.
If you do like a beer or a glass of wine when you're out and about .... keep this little story (fable?) in mind.

Personally , I think it's zero drinks or you get charged ......too much grey area after that ...1 beer . 1 1/2 beers 2 beers ? There are plenty of less costly alternatives ....cab , take a non-drinker with you , call a buddy . Pay for their gas and you are money ahead !
I scared myself into not drinking and driving a number of years ago after a New Years Eve party in London . My now ex-wife and I were staying with friends in Granton , about a 30 mile drive or so . I was completely wasted , seeing double ( and I mean double ) had my 74 Vette, and actually made it the 30 miles with no incident . In the morning after I slept it off I reflected on how totally stupid and selfish I had been risking my life , my then wife's and I was a father of 2 . I never drank and drove after that .
I agree with Ghostpost on this..If your gonna drive I have zero tolerance or sympathy..Drinking and driving even one beer they all say that..has been going on way to long..

Here's the moral of the story ....... apparently the cops are now taking a ZERO approach to drinking and driving and, the new machines they are using (the roadside ones) are VERY good at detecting ANY alcohol in a persons system. Basically the only way to guarantee passing is to not have ANY alcohol in your system.
You would not want me for a judge..First offence would get you a life time suspension..This has been one of the worst killers of of people driving and not only killing themselves but what the innocent victoms they also kill,,Thus **** has been going on to long and still it happens every day..If your looking for sympathy for your friend ..Sorry He was even warned..and still paid no attention..I believe anybody who is impaired and driving should be charged with attempted murder and First degree murder if they kill somebody in a drunken stupor..With all the publicity and 50 years of warnings we still have way to many selfish fking idiots and for some reason our justice system is still way to easy on guys like your friend..I used to own a tow truck and I can tell I have seen more than I death from people who just don't get it..Your friend sounds exactly like one who just doesn't get it...... in my view I beer is too many..
Personally, I have no use for alcohol, tobacco or that other stuff that our new PM wants to legalize. The fact that the government makes a sheetload of money off this with "sin" taxes, yet still condemns it is a real joke.
I do feel somewhat for your friend. Apparently, his metabolism retains even one beer and puts him in the warning zone. He probably should have realized this after the 1st time.

You said 200 pounds and 5.8 ?. Can you tell me the time from when he finished that 'one' beer and was pulled over pls. Yes it's kinda important. Both instances pls.
I'm also wondering what he considers 1 beer. We're talking a 12oz @5 %, or like some guys that figure a Pitcher of Drought, is 'a' beer cause they weigh in at 250-300, because yes it makes a big difference. The rate on women are totally brutal. With both us guys, and the other species, food doesn't change much, slows down absorbing a tad, but don't fool yourself.
I'll explain it all, and we'll use your buddy as an example for my Maths.
I have to say, I'm having a bit of a problem in my head on his 2nd.
They hate us car guys..... first they E-test our cars and now they are E-testing the drivers. Thank God it's not the tail pipe test.

I don't condone drinking and driving either, but seriously, do you think someone should be crucified for having one or two beers then driving? I don't. The problem in our society is the habitual drunk drivers that are 2-3 times over the limit. Only a linch mob would want to "nail" someone having only one drink. They are not the ones causing the problem.

Aug 31st 1985 parked on the shoulder of the road. An impaired driver thought he would follow my parked truck. The result was permanent disability to me with days I thought I would die etc. It's like a bad dream that I wish would go away. I have never drank but I pay for it every day and will for the rest of my life.

I know there are people out there that drive completely looped. That very few, are the problem and should be executed. I have no problem with that.
I can give you the charts. Just email me your weight (height doesn't matter, I was tossing that in for Glenn, ha) and male or female. Yes, gender does matter, ask me why.
The only reason I try to Teach this and have, is a reason some won't like, but I'm fact based so bite me.

What makes me wonder is can the cop give you a ticket and take your car for 98 in 100 zone, "just a warning, you could speed". The point is, set a limit, make the rules and make them clear. set the limit to .05 if that is the limit. My laws are vague and life is for the rich. Guilty people pay to get off and the poor innocent get screwed.
I am not deciding guilt or innocence here...... But I know that cops pulled people over for going fast, no radar but "I am trained to know how to see a speeder" .
If he was a cop, fireman, a lesbian with ugly glasses and bad hair or his father was a past prime minister he would have got "a warning" and on his way.
Typical government ****, too lazy to fix the system so go with what we have.
Let's sort children's educational learning by the birthday or maybe by height, no, lets form grade levels by hair colour.
So if you have a chance of getting screwed, don't play the game. I am lucky I never drank so that's one thing that kept me from trouble.

That's not the way it works. It takes from 1 1/2 to 2 hours for a beer to hit your blood stream.
Alcohol gets to your blood from your small intestine from your tummy. Your tummy, if it has some food in it, simply slows the process a little bit, but all the alcohol will get to the blood no matter what you do. Nothing can stop it. Kinda like an AMC engine.
If you're saying that a guy could simply swash some beer in his mouth and get busted, you're wrong. Again, that's not how it works.
I'm sure many here have had that pleasure one time or another to blow that thingy.
The reason they make you blow and blow and blow until you're friggen blue and half the left lung clogging the tube is because they want every little bitty from your 'exchanger' (lungs).
The reason the bastards will take the long way to their Shop, is because even if you're close to DUI, they know that MAYBE you'll be over the limit when they get you there. (See above 1.5 to 2 hours).

Most people who are for no drinking and driving are for that when Sober After 1-15 beers they all want to drive...
My Dad was a social drinker
Only drank when he was awake He never killed anyone in his 7 accidents
He just beat the hell out of us when hr got home... ya go ahead have another one....
in my view I beer is too many..
