With the $$ worth only $0.52 not too many are doing it now including me. The aftermarket business has really hit the original parts market. People not wanting to buy a fender and then have a body shop restore it at $60. per Hr. when they can buy a fender made in China paint and bolt on.

Holy smokes! Is that all the dollar is worth these days? I don't really have an option. I need a shell for a trans am. I know where there is one in Ontario and I used to think it was expensive but with that exchange and shipping it is sounding better.
Welcome to the site. It would get you more help if you made an introduction and also more specific information on what exactly what you are working on and what you are looking for. Regards
Kurt
I think you are being a little hard on Scott (Ishmael). He has been on here since last June and he did fill out his profile with his full name which by the way you didn't. He didn't ask to buy any parts from anybody but only if anyone knew of a shipper from Arizona to Canada so at this time I don't think it was necessary to give details of his car although he did say it was for a Trans-Am. By the way, I am in Arizona and if I can be of help, I have limited space in the 5th wheel.

Not much of an intro to be had. I'm not on here much other than to read threads. My father-in-law is doing a 40 Plymouth on a trailblazer chassis so I've searched around here helping him with parts and ideas. I've always been nervous about local guys knowing what's in the garage. I was away from home for a few months and had a guy prowling around that I think I actually know, so I'm not on local boards much.
I'm almost finished a 68 Firebird rag. I just need to get the transmission figured out but its a computer thing. I'm starting work on a 74 TA and I should restore my grandpa's 86 C10. I'm also going to admit I want to get into Baja Bugs to teach my son some things. I know there's some muscle car stuff on here but I figured it would be mostly rods and guys in Ontario don't seem to be too interesting in resto-mods which is what my bird is. So, like I said I'm not on here much.
I chose the name "Ishmael" because of the character in Moby Dick. I see that my bird is a white whale and that I should know when to back off due to other commitments and thought the name would remind me.
About the 74. I bought it for my son when he was 6 weeks old. You just didn't see them anywhere. It has the original 400 and 4 spd but the rear frame rails are out of it. I didn't think it would be a big deal as they were making replacements as far as I knew. Turns out they only made partials and not the front of the rail. They make a full one for a 73 and Dynacorn isn't planning on doing a full one for 74-81. I already bought a shell but didn't realize it would take me 10 years to get around to finishing my 68 so the frame on shell got a little cheezy too. I've looked at other Ontario parts cars and if the rails were good they wouldn't be for parts. I need to find something southern.
Like Joe said the dollar has taken a dump so I don't know if I can even afford a shell though I found one for $600 USD in Arizona. I thought the shell would mean less body work but then I'm either hacking the firewalls and other tags to move over and then its not really original anymore or I don't bother with it being original or I try to find another 400 4spd and there weren't that many to start with. So maybe I should just get rails.
Warren, I've got a guy in Arizona that Tucson that has a set for me. A bumper would be cool too if it would fit. If it can be made to work that would be great.
thanks
Scott
I welcomed him to the site and was trying to help him along. He is looking for a Trans am and with the dollar buying from the us is not budget friendly these days as mentioned. If he was willing to give a bit more info on what he was looking for perhaps someone here might know of where he can find it locally and save money. It sounds like you are who he was looking for and hope you can help him out. Regards Kurt
Hey Glen
I just watched all 7 'Francis the Talking Mule' movies in preparation for Oatman. Are we ready for any Jack Ass comments.
Hey Sherwood
Speak up if you are on line, Where are you? We will be in Casa Grande Wednesday and then headed to Yuma, Lake Havasu, Oatman, Kingman, Williams, Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, Winslow and back to Phoenix.
They were afraid the wall was going to fall over and all the crap in the air from the fire from the old building they had it all fenced off. Was a good trip though brought home a 68 GTO with a rare factory Ford transmission in it. Got it for an unpaid storage bill that the guy never came back.

HI WARREN : Going to " PATRICK'S " when in Casa Grande , for some trick INLINE stuff ???? --- Have a GREAT trip -- LATER -- DON / Fleet 51
Hi Don
It has been exactly 5 weeks since I gave Patrick an extensive order. He didn't have anything in stock so I told him if he could have it at the drop in Port Huron for Feb 5, I would still take it. As of today no stock. I have heard this complaint from many sources.
