Guys I have a 62 Chevy 11 Nova, the trim pieces I am talking about go on the doors right beside the window where your arm would rest if you had it out the window and on the small window in the passenger area same place, The pieces I have now are in nice shape and have polished up perfectly but the problem I have is there looks to be a strip of rubber that sits underneath it , one piece of trim has a little bit of this rubber remaining while the other pieces the rubber is missing, any ideas where I can find this rubber strip that goes in there . If anyone has any ideas, thoughts, advice or can help me out I would greatly appreciate it, thanks. I have a couple pictures attached that might help out.
Think I have found out a little more, by the looks of it the fellow that built that car has used the wrong weather stripping, there is a weather strip that will fit into the trim and there are tabs on the trim that hold it in place and then goes through the door and more tabs that lock it in place, still trying to find this weather stripping but think it should be out there someplace. Thanks for all the help and leads, appreciate it, will keep looking to find what I need soon I hope.
You need a weatherstripping kit ; it will have the fuzzies for the inside and rubbers for the outside that attach to those reveal moldings.
Here's an example: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?Parta~ShowPicTxt~Z5Z5Z50000132a~Z5Z5Z5AADYK~Z5Z5Z51
These are widely available from most restoration suppliers.
Try antique chevrolet; they are in dundas ontario.
FYI; the repop rubbers are horrible no matter where you get them from . The rubber is too hard and you'll find every time you roll up your windows they will lift the moldings off the door or qtr panel. Some people trim the rubber, some add screws to help hold the moldings on. The bottom line is there is nothing any better available.
