so the time has come for me to sell my 1982 Porsche 924 so that there is room in the garage for me and my dads 1959 Morris minor that comes back from winter storage really soon. I learned quiet a lot about cars, how to do things and how to not do things... I did not loose any money on the car, made little bit and the project was very fun. The best part of it was saying I bought a Porsche at 14. So as soon as it left the day before march break I felt the need to get another small project "somthing small " , I spent a day searching kijiji and I started to look at mini bikes, then I found one that was not overly priced and was basicly untouched. Me and my dad went to acton to check it out. He had no idea what we were going to look at. I ended up buying it and brought it home. Took it for a quick spin then put it away for the night, next day it was in peices. My plan was to just simply rebuild it but that's too boring... I want to make it a little hotrod " IT NEEDS TO GO FAST " has a 97 cc in it right now witch is ok for a chain saw I want to put a 6.5 in there :) . Here are some pictures
I had a go-cart as a kid. I drove down the street a mile or so every Sunday to the local K-mart parking lot. I had the whole place to myself! Things were great till I let some dickhead go for a spin and ended my fun after he crashed it!!! I was the dickhead that lent it to him.....according to the old man!!! HRD

Speaking of parking lots, I bought a Vega for $50 when I was too young to drive, and parked it at the local Canadian Tire (without permission). My friends and I would take turns driving it around the parking lot on Sundays when the store was closed and the parking lot was empty. It was a stick car with no reverse. What a blast we had. One Sunday we arrived to find the Vega had been removed from the parking lot and parked on a side street adjacent to the Canadian Tire parking lot. We rode our bicycles home, grabbed a rope and got my mom to attempt to tow it home. Two hundred feet from Canadian tire, the rope broke so I fired up the car and drove it behind my mom the rest of the way.
through the 3.5 out put in a 6.5. Holy crap! 50 mph
That is definitely cool. $50 is a steal for that thing.
I used to have an old Suzuki DS185 that I taught my nephew to ride (I started him out on the 3.5 Briggs, he moved up to the 5Briggs,then onto the DS185). We'd take the DS and the 5hp Briggs out to the family property, he'd ride the DS and I'd actually be on the 5hp minibike. It has shocks in the front and the seat has coil-overs. Man we had a lot of fun with those oldies .....

My Dad used to race karts in the 60's. Direct drive, twin Mac 15's, pyramid intake with twin carbs, cast aluminum " mega-phone" exhaust, crank-case stuffers, etc, etc. One night when I was around 10 my folks were out. Dad let me take the cart out ( we had - and still have - an oval here) pretty much when-ever I wanted.......provided he was home. He wasn't. I duct-taped a flashlight atop my helmet ( safety first!) bump started and headed out the driveway. I pulled onto Victoria ave, a sleepy, tree covered 2 lane back then - and opened it up. Not sure what gearing we had on it at the time but when I flashed past the old Red and White ( dating myself) I picked up a light-show. I just went around the block and headed home, with the cop in tow.He was more curious than anything else, said he wondered what could sound like a chainsaw war but go so fast. Told me to keep it off the street and left. Next morning as my Grandfather , my Dad and I were in the barn my grandfather spotted the helmet with the flashlight still taped to it, while my Dad was busy with something Gramps removed the flashlight and just grinned at me.I cut his lawn all summer without being asked, lol. As a side note we still have a kart, not the original although I'm trying to locate it, and our crew abuse it regularly. I also had a Ruttman mini bike, that's a nice project you have there Daniel.

That story put a smile on my face . Thanks for posting .
that blue one with the big wheel on the back was the first time I saw a mini bike and it made me interested in them. It's crazy, i hope mine could be half that cool

In grade 8, we built wooden ramps and put on a "Hell's Angle" stunt show, for 2 girls that showed up to our camp out.
Also - did my first flip in grade 12 / was a 1948 Fargo Van, with push button start & profits paid for 1/2 a year of College tuition.
