i have a wide ratio muncie in my 64 buick wagon behind a well built 455 ,had it out for a ride today,was nice to it ,drove about an hour..came home parked it out front,came time to move it,it seems to be in reverse when in neutral,when i do find a forward gear it lugs down to the point of stalling.emerg brake is off,car rolls free with clutch in,i am hoping its a linkage issue,gonna crawl under it tomorrow...just wondering if anyone has had a failure like this?? any info most welcome...
Had this happen before ...When a torsional spring falls out of the clutch disc an gets jammed in the pressure plate... Not sure if this is ur issue .
Car rolls free with clutch in ...There is a hole through the shifter mech an you should be able to slide a allen key or nail or punch through it when all is adjusted properly.
i like the allen key cause some cars the shifter mech is up in the tunnel an the bend on the key works out nice an slick...
Does the trans have enough fluid in it...
Could just be the sink ro's stick n(or wear out an fall into the case) check ur fluid an drive er hard for half a km or what ever it takes to bang 4 gears...go easy through don't be an animal.

i've blown many a super T 10 They end up locked in two gears... Ur roll n along come to a stop pull er down a gear go to take ur foot off the clutch an total mayham lock up...sometimes on up shift End up crawl n under with a hammer an smash it out of gear...not good ,but neither is a sitting duck.
If ur really concerned...Pull the trans out an have it gone through...without doing any of the above!!!!

Check the nuts or bolts holding the shift linkage on the gear selectors for tightness If loose it will cause the shift linkage not to fully come out of gear . tighten them up ,and check the shift linkage adjustment ,give a shot of grease .

Also check bell housing bolts an trans to bell to make sure its not walking.
got under it this morning,reverse rod spring clip fell off,and rod was hanging down....got new clip on,all is good again,thanks for all input! must have dropped the rod when i went to back up and locked it into reverse...greased everything up while i was under and checked all the other clips/linkages
