Years ago , the people who were running St Thomas drag way , before these latest owners . Told me an some other people they had to go to a meeting with township and people , dealing with the operating hours of the business . He said he read the names and addresses on the petition presented to the township , some of the people lived over 50 kilo,s away from the track .
Next Up . the old Barrie speedway stock car track . Its closed down now , but they have the Hearts an Boots concerts , two , three day events concerts .
I watched local tv news and some woman was at the township meetings literally crying at the micro phone . And I,m thinking , Wow , two 3 day concerts compared to weds night testing and Friday Saturday sunday all summer long stock car racing . ..77.

When I was involved either racing or working at Capital City Speedway we had to be done before 11:00 or there were phone calls. Track was there long before the people ever where. Nearest house had to be at least 2-3 km away. Bylaw would show up the next week and had out noise tickets to the manager. No chance to even argue it as it happened the week before and was because of a phone call only. Could have been a street racer for all then knew.

well sound does travel well - especially when there are no other sounds

back in the 90's and early 2000's I could hear cars racing on taunton rd just east of the end of steels ave back when the road was still new

I was at sheppard and meadowvale , a couple of miles away as the crow flys at least

not everyone loves cars and the vast majority don't wanna hear them .. ever

I say if ya aint fast enough to warrent that much noise then shut the XXXX up

'cause I don't wanna waste my time turning to look for what's coming if your not

(oops that was supposta be the edit button not the quote one lol)

If you knew the track was there before you moved into your new home, then live with it! Met a guy years ago who owned the local dragstrip..said many were trying to shut him down.. He said I was here first if you remember...he's still open!

Same deal with farmers I suppose ....been there for generations , city folks move out that way and build , complain about poop smell and animals "reproducing" as if it was something new .

Yep, I'm surrounded now. They don't like bird bangers, they don't like spray, they don't like farm equipment noise, etc, etc, etc. My family has been here since 1785, they've lived here 6 months...... I had to listen to 30 years of equipment racket while THEIR homes were built and never complained once......f*cking idiots.

Some of my favourite years were on farms ....early 70's anf early 80's . One was in Mennonite / Amish country .....great people with a really dry sense of humour . Did it stink ..., yep one was a pig farm . Was it noisy? Dusty ? You betcha .....my only complaint was the second experience in the snow belt and I had my Vette ! Needless to say I sold that within 6 months .....didn't beach it in the drifts amazingly , just don't use the brakes , stab and steer !
