Has anyone out there put a T5 Camaro five speed 1983-90 trans into a tri 5 Chevy ? The car is presently equipped with an s10 five speed. My main concern is with the clutch linkage,I read a post that stated the stock 55-57 setup will transfer to the Camaro trans, will use the rear of the s10 tranny so there should not be any issues there, driveshaft is new and correct length for the s10 so I assume it will work on the Camaro trans.Looking to purchase good condition trans if anyone has one.
isnt the 83-90 camaro trans the same as the s10 just different tailpiece. i put a s10 tailstock on a camaro box years ago and installed it in my 55 gmc. i upgraded to a beefer transmission so the camaro sluicebox is available
Depending on the year, both the S10 and the Camaro T5 can either be a World Class or Non World Class. Mountings, splines are the same. Take out one, put in the other. There was from the factory a brass tag attached to the top of the trany. The number will be 1326-xxx. Using the reference chart below, you can determine what you have. I would definitely use a World Class in a Tri five. That is a pretty heavy car and T5s don't like a lot of power or abuse. Without the tag, it is almost impossible to tell what have got.
