im in the process of collecting parts for my new project 1950 anglia im going to build a frame from scratch and was wondering if anyone else had a similar frame plans pics good info for a first timer mounting pionts engine set back 4 link kits that are available i have a strut front end qa1 a ford 9 housing and axles a walker rad a bbc and 4l80e trans so far so good hope to here from other anglia prefect thames owners
i have picked up a complete front suspension from a camaro drag car qa1 struts qa1 lower control arms mustang spindles brakes calipers and flex lines all in a package then i purchased a appleton steering rack the camaro was running a bbc so i know the front springs should handle the weight and i own a tunnel ram square port 454 with all vintage race parts including magneto no reason to mess with a motor that makes 600 hp all day long ah yes a ls version would require more money and not keep some vintage feel i will only change the cam out from a solid roller to a hydraulic roller headers will have to be built around chassis i have a walker rad now i will post pics of parts as im working with them
i have a gm motorsports controller and wiring harness i will have to figure out a tps switch for the carbs and i still need a appropriate torque converter to match new camshaft i have a lokar shifter for the 4l80e im looking for a digital display and switch for gear locator
No i dont have any.. always wanted an Anglia though. I have no idea how long your car was on there but i know when i seen it I was at work and then came home and forgot to message about it and in the morning it was gone. Litterrally ...snooze you lose... i am building a 55 chevy gasser for a guy all new chassis etc
very nice 55 gasser definitely on my top 5 list i was lucky found that anglia by accident acquired it in a trade my father raced his 57 at cayuga back in the day i grew up listening to all the stories he was in shock when i drug the anglia home i met a guy 10 years ago who lived outside grimsby smithville area that owned a anglia named peewee that car left an imprint on me for life i wonder where that car ended up
When i was a kid There was an Anglia in a rod action magazine called the " jumpkin pumpkin " obviously the car was orange but man I will never forget that machine
i have a friend in welland who just pulled a 55 bel air out of a old garage he and i would both love to see more of that gasser in the future have you built the frame ?? and fire wall work ??

Funny you say that, Jim Lindsay's Pepper Mill Falcon did the same thing to me - 50 years ago at Niagara. Your Anglia looks like a great start already. Please keep us posted.
yes i heard about niagara from dad definitely a different time he loves his 6 cylinders as you can see by his ride i had a great time putting that 261 together with him
That's a really nice p.u. I seem to remember a red or orange Anglia in Grimsby, right near the corner that leads into the highschool, across from McDonalds.
Oh lol.. yeah that car is long gone.. i was building it after i got a divorce out of a bunch of spare parts i had left over.. it was weird... i never had any of intentions of selling it but a good friend of mine wanted it badly. So i finished all the tin work amd stuff and he took it home

Those things can be really tough to fit everything in and under without looking totally ****ing ridiculous. And most of the time you end up sitting damn near in the back seat by the time a v8's been crammed in there. If it were me (laugh all you want) I'd put a late model 4 banger in there, Mustang II front end and a light rear axle and a full interior. Maybe even put a snail on the motor. Make a nice "different" economical, reliable cruiser.

I agree.. That's why I said earlier about the BBC. I would do like gkent said,, sbc fits fine and Mll but it also needs to be narrowed too. Drivers seat in the back seat would takes away from the appearance IMO
i believe both you gentlemen have been using the medicinal again
It seems the other scotty that wrote" im going to build a frame from scratch and was wondering if anyone else had a similar frame plans pics good info for a first timer " Has left the building Thank you so much for showing your appreciation on the input. enjoy your build.
no sorry it is the same scotty the one who also mentioned the motor trans has already been bought and paid for and yes my strut style front suspension is mustang ii and the rear end is ford 9 inch and i dont see pics of any frames that you have or have built both you guys are of in neverland building your own anglias i havent seen anyone on here yet other than chad and i wanna go fast that have anything good to say
Build what you want and a big block Chev. is a neat way to go. The last car similar to this that I built was a 67 Chevy 11 with a 454 LS7 stuffed in . 10.80's at 126 footbreaking it [ no high rpm stall converter] and through the exhaust. Don't forget a 'cage' to help to keep it [ and you] together.
On a short wheelbase like your Anglia where you put the engine [ including how high in the chassis] is very important for proper balance. For a long time NHRA would not allow big blocks in Anglias just the longer wheelbase Prefect. I can't give you advise on engine placement but the info must be available somewhere. At 72 I'm not working on to much. My cars for the mostpart are done but I'm always trying to improve. One thing I have to do is fix a major leak and clunk in my 32 Ford 5 window. Its powered by a 54 Dodge hemi and I used one of my old 400 turbo race trans [reverse pattern manual shift only] and Ive ignored repairs to the transmission for to long. No big deal. This year is devoted to cruzing.
I think this subject has been beat to death somewhere here but you should make some inqueries with Insurance companies regarding street cars with cages. I agree - for a few reasons - that it should have one but your Insurer might not.Aside from that it's your car Scotty, build it the way you want.
yes bob t your right i heard from my dad who had met the late rudy held the golden gambler as to why he ran a 4 door prefect class rules or track rules did not allow the shorter wheel base cars
Sounds like your going to have a lot of fun building your car. No doubt you will get a lot of help and suggestions on this site by some very knowlegable rodders . I have always liked the Anglia types ever since I first seen Jimmy Oddy at Niagara way back when. Build it your way and enjoy the build.
i have to finish this project first its been 8 years since its been on the road lol so for now im buying parts for the anglia it will be on the shop floor around sept and next winters only project
bell teck 2 inch drop springs in the front and 2 inch drop spindles made my own flip kit in the rear custom rear springs and rear air bags so i can still tow a trailer
