Hi, My name is Igor, I live in Guelph, ON. Since 2011 I help interested individuals to ship/import Soviet cars (mostly Ladas) into the US. I imported my Lada to Canada last year, but here these cars have by all means a cheap image, so when I decided to sell it, I could barely break even and not lose money. Eventually I started thinking that me and other guys might like Ladas for classic timeless design, but not for its tech characteristics or reliability, and this turned me to kit car world. Maybe anyone here knows how to register a car that you assembled yourself, or if someone did it for you, how to import kits, and other related stuff. When I got to import my Lada to ON, I faced with total lack of knowledge on behalf of Service Ontario employees, and listened to the most weird stuff from them. The main idea was - no you cannot do it (i.e. import). Luckily I was told how to do this import by a broker from NS, she guided me by distance and everything went smoothly. Therefore, when I thought of kit cars, I also decided to obtain the knowledge not from vague government website, but from real people who did it, or knew someone who did it. I'm also open to share my experiences should anyone be interested.
