Just got back from the Port Hope cruize night. What a great turnout tonight over a hundred cars ,trucks and even a vintage camper. First good night(no rain)

in a couple weeks so lots of people there . Lots of really nice cars, kustoms of different decades seem to be making a comeback in a big way,or there just being

resurrected from hibernation, good to see cause they are my favorite style of build. Lots of catching up after a long winter. Had a good time. Big thanks

to the organizers and sponsors. Ed

I just got back from West Virginia so you can "thank me" for the good weather that followed me home!! Got back in time to hit the Uxbridge cruise, but not going back, 85 to90% Mustang's, Challengers, Camero's etc. all from mid 2000's up!!! Didn't make Port Hope as too much yard work to get caught up on, billy goat high grass, cut up a tree that came down, etc. Had a great trip my 64 Impala[ 409,4spd.] won a peoples choice trophy + long distance so that was a BONUS, really don't care if I win something or not, it's the fun of being there & meeting people. Local wknd. shows are getting "pretty Pricey" so my car mates here have decided "only cruises" unless a special one comes up & isn't "gouging" Last one we went to you had to "buy" tickets on "door Prizes[ $20 didn't bite]+ entrance fee[ $ 10]+ breakfast[$20 for 2],gas etc. that "F ing" adds up in a hurry!!!!

If you get time check out the Port Hope cruisers Facebook site. Hundreds of pictures of last nights
event. Lots of different vehicles from lots of places. Like I said a good place if you are a social type.
The green 77 Ventura is my ride for now till I get a clutch for the Delivery. Ed

i haven't been to this one but i have heard from several people over the years that it is a pretty well attended cruise night with a lot of variety. it is near fowlers corners at the big barn, hwy 28 north to hwy 7 east just outside peterboro.

The "BARN is Thursday nights and is a Good one, The Port hope Saturday night one is south of the 401 on Hwy.2 in Home Hardware parking lot, doesn't start till 6pm when store closes. There is a Monday night cruise in Bridgenorth a little east of the Barn & north on Chemong rd. to Bridgenorth, haven't been to all of those mentioned yet as they have been pretty well "rained" out so far.

Don't give up on a cruise because of some newer cars.

There were still a ton of old cars there Thursday.

Geeze Pete have you ever been going to the wrong cruize nights. Try Port Hope it is free with some nice little sponsored door prizes.
Your not getting a set of tires or a built SBC but you might get a pizza or 10 bucks off at a parts place . But that's not the point ,
is it . the people and the cars are the draw. We get some tuners and lots of bikes and some really odd stuff as well .That is what
interests me is what is going to show up this week. They are as fun as you make them and not for everybody ,lots of rodders don't like parking lot cruizes and would rather go for a drive, that's cool as well. What ever floats you boat . Ed

Ed, have been to Port Hope a few times last year, yes it's a good cruise, just haven't the weather to go this year yet. Missed the past saturday night one as still trying to get caught up on stuff from returning from trip south.Haven't hit Fowlers Corners or Bridgenorth yet either, same reason. Port Perry has restrictions on age of vehicles [89 & older] so that keeps the "NEW" crap out!!! I know. if you don't like new Camaro's Mustangs & Mopars, just walk by, but it's like touring a "new car dealership" at some of these cruises, & grounds fill up & older ones are left parked on the outside looking in.

Weather has put a damper on things for sure,Pete. I wonder if location makes any difference to who shows up for a show.
Would an urban area attract more tuners and late models as opposed to lifted trucks and vintage stuff in a more rural
setting. I like kustoms and gassers and fortunately we get our share. I like ratrods others like the lifted trucks.
I think the hobby dies if we don't accept the kids and there rides. I will say I agree with you about the late models but you have to admit
some of those twin turbo rides are engineering masterpieces. I love to see things repurposed into different applications, handles, tubing
upholstery ideas etc. Lots of things I can learn from the gray beards and the kids alike. Ed

Here is something different! AACA the people that bring you the Hershey Swap Meet are coming to Kingston for a week in August. I believe this is the first event that AACA National is coming to Canada to host here. Pete you will not see any Mustangs or Camaros at this event as your car has to be 1931 and older. I believe this is a driving event and not a show.

i was down to the belleville cruise last night at the dub for a brief visit and they had a pretty good turn out, i think she said close to a 140 cars, it is a freebie with some draw prizes and a 50/50. i was there to check on how red thompson was coming along, another old truck driver, who has been putting this cruise on for more years than i can recollect as he was due for some plumbing on the heart. it was to be a triple but ended up a quad by-pass on monday in kingston and he is coming along as good as can be expected i was told. drop another gear and get at ur red.

this bellevile cruise and the one in marmora on thursday are about the extent of the ones i hit on a regular basis and they are free with a good assortment of cars, mostly older and north american but i have noticed some older british sports cars, 50's-60's, this year and last.

I can't imagine the nerve, of all those car nuts, bringing newer cars into the shows .    It should be all old pure stock Historic cars and trucks

I would never take my new Challenger RT to a car show .

Humm lines of stock ,historic vehicles, I believe they are called A4C sancioned events, or
antique machinery shows, not cruise nights. But now that you mention it, you don't see many
brass era cars at a cruise night or car show any more .Where are they, they can't all be in
museums can they. Ed

You probably missed the stampeed Pete. The usual procedure is kinda funny actually. The store that lets
us use the parking lot doesn't want anyone on the lot before 6 ,so the cars fill the Timmies lot,the gas station lot ,
the grocery lot, the bank lot. Then at 6 exactly everyone enters the big hardware lot . I have seen the lot fill in just
a few munutes so if you got there at 6:10 you probably missed the hilarity. I seems most have there favorite spots
and generally park in or near the same area. I am glad you made it and you can see if your car got on the photo montage
of tonights cruise at the Port Hope Cruisers facebook site, they usually do a good job of catching everyone. Ed

I just checked saw my green Ventura and if yours is a red Impala ,I saw a picture of the car and another of one fender,so you are enshrined in
the Port Hope cruisers photo album. Seriously though there are usually a couple really good photographers attending and they will gladly
do a photo shut of your car. One of them has some sort of magazine that she is always looking for feature cars. Ed

Only 2 64 Impala's there, other one was a "candy apple" red, hood closed but had 327 emblems & a "slip & slide" power glide!!! Saw the green Ventura but was looking for your S/delivery.

Glad you made it. I was workin on the delivery, Pete, and will have it at the Canada day show on Monday. Town hall, usually a good turnout and
the firefighters museum is going to have a display at the old Canadian Tire building between 10 and 1. Evidently they have just received
some kind of steam powered equipment that they say is worth the visit. Maybe see a few of you there. Ed

yea, i can relate to that pete, "Wagoon" to stretch it's legs!!!  it kinda puts a grin on your face for awhile knowing you are styling. lol  i am probably going to do something also and "going for a stretch". lol   i am going to take a sabbatical from the bike for awhile, very good friend crashed tuesday in kamloops and it kinda makes you think. he is a long way from dead, luckily, but it will sure throw a truck up to his retirement yrs.

enjoy the day bud, nice area.

Re my post about Uxbridge cruise, I had a lady approach us at Cannington car show handing out flyers for Uxbridge, informed her I would not go back there, she said "I know why & wait till next year when management of show changes, year restriction in the works, & it won't look like a late model used car lot" I said I'll believe it when I see it happen!!!! But sure hope it does.

I like to call it smoozin instead of cruisin cause when it comes down to it I am mostly there to see the people more
than the cars. Usually a quick trip around to see if anything new shows up ,then a little bit of checking out buddies
new wheels or headers ,or pinstriping then visits with those I haven't seen since last summer. Then this gray beard
heads home to watch a movie. That is what this old guy calls a good day with friends. Oh ya winning the 50/50
or a door prize once in awhile is kinda fun as well. Ed

Anyone headed to Cobourg Beach Sunday for the car show. I think the car has to be fairly original to get in. But it is worth the trip just to see some of the attendees in their swim attire. Trying to be politically correct.
