so , it seems I'm not going to find a replacement for my truck anywhere's near here

I even considered paying "too much" for a babyed harley edition truck .. looked at a bunch but I just don't want a black truck with big gay harley tags..not my thing..

so I started looking at used trucks in the southern US

best I found was in california so far

 https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/52913237

exact replacement 'cept for the bench seat

so what I need to know is how hard is it going to be to get it here .. and if you have suggestions , who should I ask to help ?

- what's going to be needed / done?

and I'd really rather hire some professional shipping company other than "rusty trailer joe" , if you know what I mean

me , not knowing "rusty trailer joe" personally

wish I could get away but situation does not permit

and I'm specifically looking for a white '00-'01 super cab f150

same as << but needing the goodies I already have in ol' rusty over thar <
mileage is unimportant .. mine runs and drives like new with 352000km's

actually better with my add ons - so what I need is a rust free "refill" of my f150

I was looking at the harley trucks with the idea most were reasonably well looked after ..
at 10K and up
but still - it's paying more, for not so much what I want so I figure balance the cost of what I want against shipping something that has no chance of being rotted .. like mine

the further south the better

rather pay for freight at this point than harley tags that really do nothing

Drive your truck down, exchange VIN plates and drive home.

Just a joke.

If you can avoid buying one with this sticker you will likely be better off.  I had a 5.0 litre with the Cali package and there were extra cats on it along with other "special" equipment that was hard to get.

Example California Emissions Label

thanks for the point out .. but I will be keeping my old complete still driving truck for parts .. thus the find the same as train of thought
plus I genuinely like my truck with my mods it's a lot better than built and me & the dog are used to it

lol
lowered 2&4 inches , with hotchkis sway bar up front it will already turn off hwy #2 onto altona road at 60K's .. without touchin' the brakes ... or feeling the least bit stressed ..

I still have the new rear bar and a full set of hotchkis/bilstein shocks to go into it

edge tuner , msd coils , msd "stacker 8 ign box and granatelli coil to plug solid stainless steel connectors to replace the goofie springs usually used as a "coil wire"

add a smooth grill-less cowl top , rear window louvers and my, one year only '03 harley f150 front airdam

so considering my swap over parts that truck's actually worth double asking to me .. 'cause I'm already into it for that second half just in parts now
..kinda wanna reuse 'em 'cause we all know I'll get nothing for a bunch of used stuff , now

i have had 3 shipped back to the u.s. side of the border over the years from the west. 2 from around gay bay [frisco], one from cheyene and even if you got out there free it was cheaper shipped. they are looking for freight back to detroit area and back they go again. it's been awhile but all 3 of them were 6 to 700.00 buck u.s. range. the 2 from the bay area i picked up at a truck stop in port huron and the 3rd from cheyne in a plaza near toledo. that one was funny, 2 turbans with a dodge dually coming back from the seattle area through cheyene with about a 4 car trailer, 3 rivs maybe.  it was a 70 boat tail riv and they had never seen one before so yak-yak-yak and i told them just get it off the trailer guys, i want to go home. u had to be there maybe.
you can't be in a hurry and the guy at the other end has to be accommodating with his help time wise for the p/u. once it is on the trailer it might take over a week to get here but it will get here eventually, they are working their way back to detroit. you will get a couple of days notice on when for the p/u. from that point i don't know anymore with the new rules at the border. if you think maybe let me know as i am pretty sure i have their contact info. the truck is based just down the road from san hose near fresno if i remember right.

-good luck what ever way you go with it. being a 2000 you won't get one up here in that shape.

I don't want to derail the original post but I have a few questions about Scotty's post. These points could also be a concern for a buyer buying in the west.
Say someone from here buys a car in for example Alberta.
Do they have to pay the tax in that province before the car is brought home?
 Pay tax here again too??
Can the buyer purchase a trip type permit to drive it home?
Can the buyer get insurance from there or from here to drive it home?

i don't know if alberta has provincial sales tax yet now or not, for years they didn't. you would only pay the fed tax once anywhere in canada you bought it. if bought private there would be no tax t till registered here and, guessing, there would be no prov with proof it is leaving the prov or reclaimable much like the u.s. use to be. don't know now with the new rules from the u.s.

a quick check and they still don't have prov tax in alberta, lucky bastards, lol   https://www.retailcouncil.org/resources/quick-facts/sales-tax-rates-by-province/

I'd give Mackie Transport a call & they will be able to give you the "scoop" on what is needed to bring a vehicle "cross border" now! It's got a lot more complicated thean it used to be. I used them to ship wagon back from Saskatchewan, went on "stand by" for a empty spot on truck, 4 days later they picked it up,saved a few bucks that way.

Some vehicles are not allowed in Canada.
This is usually newer cars. There is a site where you can check it.

You will need to hire an American agent to do paperwork which you are not allowed to do yourself anymore.
Have the guy send the ownership copy to American border also while he's at it.
Must be there 48 hours before the vehicle is or you wait.

GST is the only thing payable at the border. Not sure if they add any duty. Forgot.
Make sure you have clear purchase price/invoices/copy of internet ad because they will try to put their own value on it.

Pay PST when you transfer to your name.

Pugsy , thanks much -" especially they will put their own value on it "

I understand , faintly, the need now for a "broker" to handle the paperwork part of things

I guess what I'm looking for is brokerage / shipping companies for this job

really just want to "make payment and wait for delivery"

(I already have 3-4 years invested in truck shopping at this point & my truck's current condition is now rather desperate so it's gotta happen quick N easy)

I seem to remember that when you imported a US vehicle under 10,000lbs it had to go to Canadian Tire for inspection and they had to install daytime running lights.  Does anyone recall that?

Depending on year (over 15 years old is exempt I think) it might have to go through the RIV ( Register of Imported Vehicles) program inspection. But not all vehicles so make sure what you are buying has to go through inspection before paying. Other importing information on the left hand side click boxes

https://www.riv.ca/RIVInspection.aspx

Don't forget the title at the U.S. Border for 72 hours, get a ITN number, and some U.S. Borders for vehicle export are only open M-F 8-4. I know this,I do it about 5 times a year, going to S.C. Next weekend to bring back another F150.

i knew most of that stuff geof but the ITN number is something new to me. explain please, lol. i haven't brought any up now for awhile and i have probably brought a dozen or so over the years and that ITN # is new to me. i used port huron for all except 1 h-d bike and came through ganny. the difference at the time was huron would accept a photo copy of the title for the 72hr period and were 24/7 at the time and all other crossings wanted the original title not a copy for the 72hrs with limited hours to cross and again at that time, i know there has been some changes since my last one 4-5yrs ago.
