I was looking at some GMC motorhome parts near me. I saw a '52 Ford pickup. I went closer to have a look.
Inside an old wood shop I saw a '55 Nomad all apart. Been sitting there for years.
I'm going back there next Wed. and I'll get some pictures.
Canadian Pontiacs are on Chevy chassis ,the Americans used the longer Olds type
There is over 6 inches difference .Mostly in the front fenders but also between the
rear window post and the little fin on the quarter. I wonder if the Safari's were
all on the longer chassis or if there were any Canadian built Safari's. Ed

similar but different, a buddy of mine bought a house to clean up and flip and there was a 55 2dr nomad in the big garage that had been sitting there for years in a corner. when the dust settled on the deal he had the 55 included with it and i know 50g's won't buy it today. this thing was original paint and power train with the 265 in it and with him being one of the premier body paint guys around here he new what he was looking at. it didn't need a lick of body work and all he did was remove all the trim and bring the original teal and creamy white paint back to life. i think all he had to do power wise was rebuild the carb and put a new fuel pump on it. the 185g for the house turned out a real good deal, good guy and good for him.
The CDN Pontiac fenders are flat at the top of the wheel well.
Where the USA Pontiac fenders are round at the top of the wheel well.
Something to do with the lighter engines (or other things) making the car sit a bit higher
and the bigger gap looked bad on the CDN cars.
So, if you see a '55 maybe '56 Pontiac with the flat top wheel well, you know it's a Canuck car.
Look for a picture of a CDN Pontiac and compare it to the above USA car.
All this is stored in my department of useless information.
Thank you and good night.

This Canadian '55 Pontiac has the flat top front wheel opening as Jarvis says. If you check the picture of the American Safari the top of the wheel opening is round like he pointed out.
