33 Chev truck gets some lovin

thumbnail_003.jpgIve had this truck for about 8 years and havnt done much with it. My brother is a great craftsman and he redid the cab about 4 yrs ago . I have had it longer than the 51 so I figured I should do the truck first.  So here we go again. Found a Buick 3.8 and it almost ready for startup. The plan is to make it look original with more modern driveline. Will have it running for spring( Ihope!) Some pics

Update pics. Made some progress-front clip is on-started engine and found that carb needs rebuilding and t-stat housing leaks. One step forward and two steps back?

Nice job on the off-set Steve. What's under the blue dropsheet with the chrome bumper peeking out in the first pic?

Those pic were taken at the PO garage. He was into Vets so maybe?

That is an aftermarket power box by CPP. Its for 55-59 Chev trucks but I was able to use it on the 33.

Hi Don.  I saw your post on the door sill plates and was wondering how you made out. I have a 4 door 51 and will need some to. i found a site somewhere that gave a lot of measure ments for a 4 door. Not so much on a 2 door, just convertibles and 2 dr hardtops.  All i need to do now is try to remember which site it was. ..Its a senior thing>>

Happy New Year to Don and all rodding brothers.

Good morning all. Progress has been slow-other things going on. Got the brake pedal and master in. Yesterday I set the pinion angle, welded the perches and installed the rear shocks. Will start running brake lines today. Picked up another set of really nice 16 in spokes. The thrash continues-slowly.

HI LARRY : Sorry for the delay . I never did find any plates that would fit , or readily available , so I just wailed on my existing set , until I find a suitable replacement --  LATER  --  DON

Hello all-progress has been slow.,but we now have gear shifter installed and working brakes. Have to repair and install the gas tank and have the carb rebuilt next. Also have to find a driveshaft then it should be ready for a test run around the yard.Better get out here Don, Im gonna need a co-pilot!

Hello all-havent posted for a while, did not want to bore you with all the hundreds of little details. Anyway, its running under its own power for the first time in maybe 50 or 60 yrs! Drove it around the yard and up the road. Everything feels great, brakes steering, shifts ok. Still a ways to go,box and rear fenders, glass, gauges etc.Hope to get on the road this year!thumbnail_20200425_113350_resized.jpg
