If anyone needs an English wheel, Busy Bee is selling a bench top model for $157.07 Cdn.. And the shipping is free. Cool. The model is Craftex CX 819. I hope this helps someone.
That's a good deal. It appears to be the same as the one Princess Auto sells, but Busy Bee's regular price is even lower than PA. The website says they're "out of stock" for online purchases but the stores might have stock.
That includes taxes. $157.07 total. And Busy Bee has a lot of locations. I'd never heard of them before. I think the Mississauga page comes up by default but if you look at the page closely, there is a small window that allows you to choose a location. I know Concord, Ottawa and Pickering are also on the list. And free shipping. Cool. It comes by Canada Post. Sorry for not listing all the information on my first post. I was too excited. I think I wet myself.
For anyone who isn’t familiar with Busy Bee, have a look through their website or visit a store. I’ve bought quite a bit of stuff there over the years and they have some neat products. Mostly off shore of course but lots of name brand things too, and they have some good sales, such as this English wheel.
I am posting a photo to give everyone an idea of the size of the unit. It is a bit smaller than I expected but it looks like it is big enough to do what I need. It went together easily, everything is well oiled and they included a spare part (the brace that holds the lower bearing - they gave me two). The bearings all roll easily. I'm pleased. It appears that it suits my need perfectly.
The tape measure and screwdriver are to give an idea of the size of the unit. I didn't need either for assembly. That was quick and easy. You can see the spare bearing brace as well, just behind.

I don't mind sharing my good fortune so if anyone needs to do some English wheeling, maybe we can schedule some time in my garage. I'm usually home all day. I tried it out for an hour and it seems to work just fine. It will take some getting used to since I have never done it before but I think the hour went well.
