Looking for a half decent solid polyurethane single stage. Half decent meaning not break the bank but still a nice hard paint with good shine. My daughter wants a colour change (red) on CURSE, (my 69 El Camino).

I will frame off the car and do some mods in about 7 years time, so basically temporary so she can enjoy going to cruise nights more. I only have a couple years before she won't want to hang out with me so I want to do a quickie paint job this winter.

What brands are you using and available locally without breaking the bank? PPG is definitely off the table.

She wants the hood stripes also, so like the pic below.

the stripes will make it appear a little less redder, if that makes sense. lol i used a cadilac white with a small fleck in it and don't look to bad on the chevelle with a red they used on mopar mini vans. good luck and enjoy the time spent with the daughter.

Thanks Shag.
The red I use will be darker than the car in the pic. That one appears really bright.
And ya, makes sense.

I've used these guys in Markham http://www.paintcircuit.com/   They sell at wholesale and if you explain what you are doing they will help out, I think they gave me Nason to save a few bucks when I did the Mustang Porsche Guards red.

Yep. That's bright. Looks good though.

How's the shine on that paint?

Shine was great!  If I was a better painter, I could have probably just shot it and left it alone.  With my skill level, I ended up cutting and buffing almost everywhere.  LOL

There is a small but incredibly talented and busy body shop up the road from me and he uses nothing but Nason from NAPA.
