Do you know the difference between '55 and '56 CND Pontiac front fenders from the USA model?
The CDN wheel wells are flat on top.
Supposedly because the CDN motors were lighter than the USA motors.
If I remember correctly, the same thing happened when they put Chev motors in the Avanti.
All this trivia from my department of useless information.
You're welcome.
Now back to my rum and coke.

Plus the American fenders are about 6ins longer than the Canadian ones. Ed

They are almost as big as an Olds.

So we know Canadian Pontiac's were built on Chevy platforms and American
Pontiac's were built on the larger Olds/Buick chassis. Wondering about Pontiac wagons
and sedan deliveries, especially the Safari's . Most of the Pontiac wagons I have seen are

Chevies with Pontiac trm or clips. Wondering if other than the Safaries any regular wagons

were built on the American platform? Ed

From what I can gather, the US Pontiac wagon came as either a Safari which was a Nomad clone or a Chieftan split in two models, upper trim 870 and base trim 860. There was no sedan delivery. The Canadian Pontiac was built on the Chev chassis and a little bit smaller. The wagon was the Pathfinder, but no Nomad style option although you could get it as a sedan delivery. Drive trains share nothing in common.

I remember my Dad having a '57 Laurention. I thought - then and now - that it was a really nice looking car. I'd like one today......
Thanks for all the interesting information guys!

In 1987 our family went to B.C. to show our kids where they were born - both in New Westminster. While we were there, Jason, our son found a 1970 Mustang Fastback 428 SCJ minus engine/trans, and we needed to find some way to get it back to London area.
I found a 58 Pontiac Pathfinder, 2 door wagon, 6 cyl., 3 speed that needed a clutch, but was a real solid car. So the guys that sold us the Mustang let us use their tools/ welder etc., that allowed us to change the clutch, build a trailer hitch, tow bar, and brackets for the Mustang. Towed it back here, and drove the wagon for a year or so, and sold it
Two years ago, I found that it was for sale, near Woodstock, so we went to have a look. Boy, it sure went down hill in the 30 years. Never did buy it back.

back in the day, mid to late 60's, we were buying those 55-6-7 pontiacs for anywhere from 75.00 to maybe 150.00.  back in those days we were buying them just for cheap transportation as there was no get up and go to them. had a couple of nice ones that in today's world would of been desirable and i vaguely remember dad bought a new 55-6 four door in some shade of blue.  lol
