Welcome to the world of Chuck Miller and Steve Tansy Zingers (superfly-autos.com)

I was in California many years ago. I think it was the SEMA show then in Anahime.

Before it went to Vegas. At that time it was know as the Speed Equipment Manufacturers Show.

I bummed a ride back with Steve Tansy after we picked up a hemi block from Keith Black.

We drove a pickup truck and pulled an enclosed trailer which had several flat tires along the way.

I think this was just before Steve built the Coke/Pepsi machine car. Anyway we ended up at his place

in Tipton, Indiana. We unloaded some things from the trailer and I headed for Promotions on 9 Mile Rd.

St. Clair Shores just outside of Detroit. I stopped in Fairmont, Indiana to stop and say Hi to James Dean.

North on 94. Then back to east end Hamilton.

Back in the 60s there was always some wild new creation from Barris,
Roth ,Starbird or one of the other custom car Gods. The shows at the EX
in Toronto was the same . Show cars brought the crowds. Not practical
couldn't run but fun. Lots of giveaways,I always went home with a bag of useless
loot and looked for the plastic model or customized one I had to copy what I had seen.
I still have some programs, posters and cards from Motion or Speedorama or
whatever they called it that year. Show cars not real but some of the fun stuff we remember
from our youth. Ed

Well some show cars are real and run! If you're contending for the Ridler award in Detroit you HAVEE to drive the car in and out of the show! J.F. Launier out of Osoyoos BC routinely beats the crap out of his "Ridler" Riviera
