I put a battery blanket on my daily driver but now I worry because everything these days is made in Chine. I have visions of my truck going up in flames. How long are we supposed to leave a battery blanket plugged in ?
as long as your block heater , hook it to same timer as your block heater . But my question is , what do you have thats hard starting in 30 deg F weather .

It isn't hard starting. I just want to protect my battery over winter. I had to buy 5 batteries last summer and it is getting expensive. I don't have a block heater but if I did, then I'd worry about how long it had to be plugged in too. I thought a battery blanket was a smart way to protect my investment of another new battery. I,m not a big fan of leaving block heaters on for a long time . I use a timer if I,m too lazy too get up early but I figure no more then 4 hours at 40 below F and like 2 hours at 20 below F is my scale . I,d say same thing for a battery blanket

Thank you both very much. I am concerned because we are told to stay home so I don't drive anywhere and I think the cold and lack of use will drain my battery. Thank you again.
You can get a battery tender or start it up and let it run every 5 days for half an hour , but dont start it up on the coldest days , wait for a day thats a bit warmer . Like says its gonna be under 0 deg F for a few days , then its gonna warm up to 20 deg F . Wait for the temps to go up for starting

Thank you 77. That sounds like valuable information. I will write it out and keep it where I won't forget it. I appreciate that. I have a battery tender and a trickle charger too. The guy at Peterborough Battery said not to leave a battery tender on because too long the the insides of the battery turn to jelly. Thank you again.
