Pontiac.................why

I always thought Pontiac could exude style, performance and just a little difference, especially from 1955 to 1964.

The iconic red and white 55

The Nomad whanna be but with a lot more style.  The 56

1956 pontiac.jpg

Boulevard cruiser and fuel injected.  The 57 Bonneville

What a way to get the groceries home in 58

When this thing passed you, was it ever going to end?  Don't cut yourself on this 59.

This 60 is smooth enough to be the dining room table.

Eight bolt wheels, tri colored interior, tri power 389, clean crisp lines.  In 61 they nailed it.

Although released the previous year, by 62 it was accessorized just perfect.

How do you improve on perfection?  Build 10 of these with a 421 in 63.

The LeMans had finally grown up and decided to show the other boys what performance was in 64.

Do you have a make and era that grabs your fancy?

Boy did they ever nail it in 61. A friend of mine in Windsor has a dark blue 61 bubble That lifts the front wheels most every time

My Dad had a '57 Laurentien, my Grandparents had a '59 Catalina. I LOVE those Pontiacs. Thanks Wuga.

My first car was a '55 Pontiac dark blue 2 door post with a 261 automatic. I made a "Y" at Beal to split the exhaust, chrome reverse rims. It was a good car.

i had some pontiac's in the way back when days starting with a 49 torpedo back for a winter beater, guessing in 66-67. had a lot of romantic fun in that car. funny what you remember about some things eh, lol. i think it was a 50 buck car plus the 25 dollar hit me insurance. the next memorable one was actually a nice 56 that i took to the strawberry field festival in mosport with some friends aboard in 1970. a 100 bucks if i remember right.

a real memorable one was this one and i can't remember what i paid for it but it was in 72.

Gloria Rick and June 30 1972.jpg

there were a couple of more but this is back when we were going through cars. the last one was a 60 4 door h/t parisenne with the lip over the back window. it was in rough frame and body shape but it ran and all the trim was there in reasonably good shape. that would of been about 2002-03, paid 150 bucks and sold it to a pontiac guy for 400 2 or 3 months later as he wanted it for the trim and original power train.

yea i had some pontiacs and some more memorable than others, they were definitely a classy car but not much get up and go until the 61 389 car. thanks for the morning memory test wagu. lol

p.s.  you could make this topic, "classic oldies we use to have" into a old-timers memory test.    lmao

I had a 1970 pontiac strato chief 2 dr hdtop blaco black with 350 sbc and 3 spd std . Canajun version built on Chev frame . It was 4202 lbs with fuel and me in it . It would go 88 mph at 16.66 at Cayuga . It had a horrible on the floor shifter . Ground second every time if you tried to shift fast . It would start to just float the valves a bit at about 5400 rpm . and that was about 50 ft from the finish line and if you shifted to third times would actualyy drop a bit . So I,d just leave it in second ha ha . Originally a 2 bl it had a garbage edlebrock intake and eddy carb on it and chrome rocker cover an a stock hei dist . Motor had never been apart

No, bought the Parklane much later, and unfortunately sold it to a guy in Vancouver area before it was finished.

This will probably be one of my favorite threads on this forum. These cars look vintage and well-maintained.
