292 rebuild

My friend with the 46 Chevy pick up is worried about the cost of a potential rebuild on an old 292.  The motor sat for years in a combine and then another 10 years in a barn.  He thinks it might need a rebuild and wonders about where to take it and what it might cost and if it even needs a rebuild.  Any guidance would be appreciated.  Thank you.  I know this is where the answers are.

Does the engine turn over? Does it have compression? Does he want a good strong reliable engine? Tell him to check out this rebuilder in Peterborough. www.facebook.com/PeterboroughMachineLTD/ He's probably looking at about $3000 for a standard rebuild. He should also be looking at these sites: www.facebook.com/groups/1958774871068676 , www.facebook.com/groups/308269986376090, www.facebook.com/groups/558343957681609 .
These are all sites on facebook about the 292. If he is serious, he should be joining Inliners inlinersinternational.org/
Plenty of info there about all things 292.

Thank you Wuga. I will pass all this on to him. He is serious. He just has to get used to the cash involved in this hobby (as do I).
